A/N-I know no one's probably going to actually read this authors note but, anyway…This is one of my first fanfics and I will probably be slow in updating. I am going to do my best. Hope you enjoy. I do not own anything except the story and the characters I make up. This is straight out of my imagination so…yeah. That's it really.

Chapter One

You know, I should have turned and run that day. As much fun as I've had, I still would have run if I'd known. I honestly hadn't known what I would get myself into.

But, I am getting ahead of myself. My name is Clare. Clare Jones. I am about 14 years old. I live in a small town called North Webster, Indiana. It's a farming town where just about everybody knows everybody and when a newbie comes around, there's instant gossip. I had lived there all my life. Well, until I blew up the market.

I was selling some extra crops from my stall on the edge of Juniper and Main Street. It was the best spot in the market, reserved for the best seller. At the time, I had a knack for knowing how much money someone has and how much they were willing to pay. Until those boys showed up, business was going great. When they all stopped at my stand, I knew I was in for problems. It was a group of six guys, all around sixteen. Some looked similar, some were polar opposites. And they all looked like trouble.

"How much for 10 ears of corn?" asked a boy, clearly the leader of the group.

"15 bucks." I said after a moment, doing the math in my head.

They rummaged around for a while and finally found enough money to buy the corn. After we exchanged, I thanked them for their business and told them they could come back anytime.

That was the biggest mistake of my life.

They came back periodically for a few weeks. Then they brought the dinosaur.

It rampaged everywhere, knocking over stalls and causing mass panic. I was swept up by the crowd, running at full speed so I wouldn't get trampled. I was exhausted. Then, I tripped.

I felt strong arms pick me up and carry me. I didn't know who it was or really care at the time. I just wanted to get away from all the people. I fell unconscious.

When I awoke, I immediately tried to sit up. But, a large, but strangely gentle hand pushed me back down.

"You need some rest," said the stranger "You've had a busy day."

And then I slept.
