-Immortal-
-
Tom Riddle had always been alone.
Yet he called it independence,
Something he could have chosen,
Instead of having it forced upon him,
By a weak mother, a selfish father.
.
Tom Riddle had always believed that he was special,
That he was above all others,
Above a humane nature.
He never had faith in anyone but himself,
And that was his downfall.
.
Tom Riddle was special.
He had a knack for manipulation.
Cruelty.
Intimidation.
And hatred.
But he saw these as strengths.
And that was his downfall.
.
Tom Riddle watched others love, grieve, forgive.
Why couldn't he do the same with sincerity?
Because they were for the weak, the foolish?
Tom Riddle would never be either,
And that was his downfall.
.
He remembered the first lie, the first steal, the first torture.
If he could get away with those sins, what would murder hurt?
He remembered the first kill, the screams and the pleas.
It sent him into rapture,
And that was his downfall.
.
Lord Voldemort was beyond redemption,
but he never cared.
He had long ago decided to be immortal.
Who was God to condemn him?
There was no God.
He thought himself to be the highest power,
To be above something as petty as death.
He played God,
And this was his downfall.
.
Lord Voldemort was at the top,
Eternal glory was just out of reach,
And then it went wrong,
For the first time, he was afraid.
This was never supposed to happen,
He was supposed to be immortal!
He was supposed to live forever!
.
And he did.
.
An incandescent darkness,
Searing and burning his shredded soul.
His immortal soul.
A life within death for eternity,
Tom Riddle fell.

(A/N- Somewhat dark. This idea popped into my mind as I wondered why Voldemort didn't become a ghost. I hope you enjoyed it and I would love any and all feedback, so review please.

Forever yours,
