"Hey, Mukuro?"
"Hmm?" he hummed, lounging comfortably on the couch as though he was the host not the guest, a coy expression gracing his face as per usual. In the midst of silence he crossed his legs, the forest green fabric of his slacks creasing with the movement.
"You…that way you smile…" his companion started hesitantly, "why is it so fake?" Alarmed by the audacity of his question, Tsuna curled up skittishly on the couch beside him.
So you've noticed.
Mukuro tilted his head in a gesture of feigned curiosity, the smile ever present. It was more than enough to disarm the passing stranger, placing them into a sense of false security. Not that Tsuna was looking at him. Not that it worked on him anyways.
"What do you mean, Vongola?"
The brunet tugged and pulled at the sleeve of his sweater as he sought for the right words.
"Well…it's just that…"
The smaller boy continued stumbling over his words but Mukuro was no longer listening. His mismatched eyes trailed along the boy's appearance, holding up his facial facade.
The undersized, slender built.
So weak, detestable.
The disheveled brown locks of hair.
So uncultured, disgraceful.
The delicate roundness of his face.
So young, ridiculous.
The curve of his sheepish grin.
So naïve, despicable.
"…Mukuro?"
He was turning towards him, relaxed enough to unfurl his body but cautious enough to maintain the one foot distance separating them.
I hate you.
He leaned forward, small hands digging into the upholstery. Light glanced off the blue jeweled ring hanging by a chain around his neck, having slid out unnoticed.
I hate you so much.
"Mukuro?"
"Yes, Vongola?" The ex-Mafioso's face remained static.
A glint of genuine concern could be seen in his large brown eyes.
"Why do you lie to yourself?"
…so you've noticed that too.

A/Ns: …so, did that make sense to anyone? Because reading over, I realized that it can be interpreted as nonsense. Oh well, it's my nonsense. Thank you for reading.
