I never knew a person could become so busy!!!! And in addition to the fact I promised I would update on a Sunday…Urgh!!!! Well, cartoon-artist (a friend of mine and reader of my FFs) wanted me to do a fic based on the Zutara Day of Fireflies… Well, this is hard… Oh well… Here goes… and after this I better get started writing the next chap…
There is a legend about fireflies.
A legend that spans time and space.
Reality has no true hold on it.
Yet, we cling onto it with our beings, refusing to let go.
Because the legend of the fireflies.
Is what the human heart hopes for…
There is a saying that you are connected to the ones you love by a red string, but no one truly knows that the red string connects you to your intended or to your soulmate, for there are many strings that lead to yours. The one that's truly bonded to you, in soul and in heart is the one those string the fireflies appear around…
He was so sure.
No one truly knew of his unusual ability.
But he was so sure.
You see when he got the scar, the eye and the flesh around it should have died.
But he didn't.
He had the best doctors, the best surgeons to save his face (well to an extent), and his eye.
But the spirit world would never let him forget his brush with death.
For that eye, he should have been blind.
From that eye, he could see the spirit world.
And the red string that connects us all.
That's why he was so sure Mai was the one.
All his life his focus was on the Avatar, not his comrades, just him.
So the first time he saw a red thread, that connected himself to Mai, he jumped.
But, the more they got to know each other, after the war of course, the more he felll in love with Katara.
To him it was wrong.
To him, he couldn't betray the ruling of the red string, and he resigned himself to a life with someone whom he could never truly love.
That was before he saw 'it'.
There was a red string on her pinky that lead to him.
Just like Mai.
Could it be possible that,
The red string of fate is wrong?
But there was a difference between her string and Mai's.
Fireflies danced around her string, and made it glow.
Maybe, the string was right after all…
Though, not of course in the way he thought it would be.
Yet when she looked at him, he knew.
She could see the fireflies around him too…
