Short, depressing death. Nice.

Marko didn't know what to do, he felt cold and his hands were shaking as he watched the woman with chocolate brown hair stumble and fall to the ground in front of him, coughing wildly. He fell to his knees and picked her up in his arms, pushing her bangs from her sweaty forehead. The realization that he was going to lose her just as he lost his brothers stung in his chest as he gently stroke her cheek with a sad smile.

"I'm meant to be alone, aren't I?" he murmured softly, watching her grow paler every second. She raised one shaking hand and placed it on his cheek, giving a pained smile.

"I didn't think this would hurt so much…" she forced out a whisper, "But it'll be over soon, and I'll meet your brothers you spoke so much about."

He chuckled and kissed her forehead. Most of their conversations after her finding out about him being a vampire cycled around what he and his brothers had done. She had heard of many adventures and one big loss when all but Marko were killed by hunters. Marko had told her about how David had ordered him to live on and find a new family, which had led to him being completely alone for several years, unable to get over the pain of losing the brothers he shared blood with. And now, when he finally had found a woman to start a new brotherhood with, she couldn't survive the transition. It was so very rare for a human not to survive it, it shocked him.

"They'll like you. Paul will adore you. You'll just listen to music and dance all day, I bet," he said as his shoulders fell, he could hear her heartbeat slow down more and more every second. She was scared, though, even if she didn't tell him he could tell. Death was something that scared most humans. They go through their lives never giving it a thought, but when the day gets closer, they panic. That same panic was what he could feel radiating from her body.

He wished it didn't have to be like this. Donna had made him feel like he had a heartbeat for the first time in several years. She made him forget his loneliness. She felt like home to him, and here she was on the ground dying. It didn't make any sense to him. She was supposed to live forever by his side. This wasn't supposed to happen!

"You look desperate. It's not a good look on you," Donna whispered to him softly, letting her hand leave his cheek and drop by her side as she bit her lip in pain as the vampire blood ran through her body, feeling like lava inside her. "I love you, you know."

Marko smirked, but it was a weak one. It didn't look like it should've. It just looked like he was trying to hide his sadness, which he didn't succeed at.

"I love you too."

He could hear her heartbeat slow to a stop as his heart once again was heavy and filled with pain. He couldn't help but let a tear fall down his cheek as the woman now lay dead in his arms. The woman he was supposed to travel around the world with, the woman who was supposed to live forever with him. After all the time he took to make sure she'd survive the change, this just had to happen.

Just like last time when his brothers died, he stayed up until sunrise, wishing he had the guts to end it all. And just like the last time, he didn't.

There it is. Donna is obviously an OC. It's not very long but I hope you liked it.

I am thinking about starting a series and if I do I will use Donna, at least her name. We'll see.
