AN: This is my second attempt at fanfiction in my entire life. I never finished the first one however. I'm definitely going to try my hardest to finish this one! Please tell me what you think! Your reviews will help me figure out where I should go from here. Yes this is a Bamon fanfic. Will it always be D/B? Yes, but in order to get there certain events have to happen.

Disclaimer: I don't own the vampire diaries. LJ. Smith and the Cw own the characters. However if I did own it, then Bamon would be my focus =)

Prologue

Nighttime in Mystic Falls gave the appearance that everything was calm and serene, despite the Founder's Day events. It would have seemed, to the normal eye that no one was out and about. This was true, on the main streets of the town. The key players of the night's festivities were sleeping some soundly, some not. Either way, they never felt the surge of power coming from Fell's Church. The witch, Bonnie was too disturbed by her own thoughts. The vampire, Damon too consumed in his worry of his humanity. His brother, Stefan too consumed in thoughts of the woman who lied next to him, Elena.

They never saw the moon give way to two shadowy figures as they walked right out of the infamous Tomb that had caused so much damage in history.

"I can't believe we made it in one piece." One of the figures said with the deep voice of a man.

"I can't believe you actually think this is a good idea, Deej." The other snorted.

Deej could do nothing but roll his eyes in the dark, knowing that the girl beside him could see him. "I can feel that bitch here, Em." Is all he responded with.

The girl "Em" ran a hand through her long black hair then shook her head. "All I can think about at this moment is how absolutely wrong this is. How extremely pissed they're going to get!"

"You didn't have to come!" Deej rounded on her. His green eyes were angry, tinged with something darker behind them.

Em scoffed, not put off by his anger. "Of course I did, otherwise you'd get yourself in some dumb ass trouble and I won't be hearing why I didn't help you from them either. Total lose/lose situation for me."

"Then at some point could you STOP BITCHING?" he hissed. "We're here to help, remember?"

Em turned her eyes down to the ground. The grass was dead here. She felt that everything seemed to be dying here. Of course she remembered why they were here. They were here to help put life back into Mystic Falls. To make it like…

"Of course I remember, Deej. What do we do now?" she asked, snapping out of her reverie.

"We wait. We watch. We need to split up."

Em nodded. She knew exactly what he was planning. "You take those two, and I'll take the other two."

He responded with the exact same nod she had given him. "Exactly. Be careful."

"Be-" that was all Em was able to get out before she had realized Deej had left in the blink of an eye. Her face scrunched up into a scowl, as she tried to make her way out of the woods. Stepping over broken tree branches and trying to avoid holes she couldn't help but think, "Vampires get all the perks, but never the consequences."

It wasn't the first time she had thought that since she was born.
