Summary: Who will watch the one that's left alone?
"We can't survive this, Emmett," I whispered into his wide chest. "Even Alice left us."
He held me tighter. "Don't worry, Rose. I'll take care of them. They won't lay one hand on you."
"You know I'm not only concerned about myself. What about you? What about the rest of this family?"
"We've got Nessie. She'll explain. They'll understand," he said in a voice that held more hope than it determined a fact.
I shivered when I thought of Nessie reaching to Aro's cold, paper-like skin, looking into his red eyes.
"I know you're worried about her. But I also know that non of us would let anyone hurt her. It'll be okay."
"It will not be okay! Everyone always say it'll be okay and it's never okay! Do you know what Carlisle told me when I was changing to this thing? 'It'll be okay, don't worry'! That's what he told me, and now.. Now you're just like him!" I pushed myself away from him, but he held me against him, not letting me go.
"Rose. Chill."
I frowned towards him. He looked into my eyes, and neither of us looked away.
I tried to explain him with my eyes how i felt, what I thought. Tried to get him to understand.
And he- stubborn as I was- tried to get me to understand. But he was wrong. That was not okay. They were many, they were strong. They will hurt my family and me, all that I have left.
All of the sudden, my heart filled with determination. They will not hurt anyone ever again. Ever. I will not have anything else taken away from me. I will protect them. With my body, with my soul. Even if it'll cost my life- as much as you can call my poor exsistance life.
Emmett will survive. I make sure of this. So will Edward, and Esme, and Jasper and Carlisle. And so will Nessie. And.. Alice. Even Bella.
And yet, in the rush of this determination, I asked myself, "And what about me?"
