"O, here
Will I set up my everlasting rest
And shake the yoke of inauspicious stars
From this world-wearied flesh. Eyes, look your last!
Arms, take your last embrace! And, lips, O you
The doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss
A dateless bargain to engrossing death!"
-Romeo and Juliet
Act V, scene iii
Chapter oneRomeo or… Jake
"Ring!" finally school had ended. I walked to my locker looking straight ahead of me. I felt eyes looking at me as I blew past them… why? But this was normal I guess so I decided not to meet these prying eyes and just opened up my locker. I shoved my books as far as they could go in my backpack. I threw on my coat and walked out to my car. Except, my car wasn't there… strange. I looked around me and saw my "boyfriend," Jake sitting in the drivers seat. Ugh, how I loathed that worthless being. I couldn't stand him and his friends. He used to be nice to me but now he is just a jerk. Time changes people and people can't reverse time so, I'm stuck with him for now. I hopped into my car and was met by another pair of staring eyes.
"What's with the staring?" I spit.
"Nothing. You just have food in your teeth. I saw it when you were talking," Jake replied as the car started to go in motion in the direction of my house. I looked in a mirror and saw nothing. He laughed at that. "Gotcha!" he exclaimed. His face lit up like a little kid opening presents on Christmas. I played along with his little joke and then he started talking about his favorite subject…himself. I looked out the window and then brought out my favorite play script: Romeo and Juliet. Jake saw this and threw it in the back seat.
"Hey! I was reading that!" I said as I reached to the back seat to try to get my book back.
"What is wrong with you? No need to be harsh!"
"Nothing. God you know." I thought about what he did for half of the car ride until we got two miles away from Lake Oscuro.
"Get out of my car," I said strongly.
"What? No. It's pouring outside! It's twenty miles to my house," Jake whimpered.
"My car. My rules." I retorted. In a huff Jake unbuckled my seat belt.
"What are you doing?" I asked. Jake pulled over to the side of the road as I tried to put my seat belt back on. He grabbed my hand to stop me and then reached over to open the door. He then gave me a bloodcurdling look. He controlled my fate now.
