"Tell me, do you ever feel a strange sadness as dusk falls?"
Twilight glistened on Ordon Spring, giving its water a silvery hue as it flowed down the rocks and gathered in a small pond. A young lad, garbed in clothes suitable for a rancher such as himself, said nothing in response to the question directed to him. He simply nodded and smiled subtly.
"They say it's the only time when our world intersects with theirs, the only time we can feel the lingering regrets of spirits who have left our world. That is why loneliness always pervades the hour of twilight…" Rusl, the man speaking, trailed off, his words becoming lost in the spring's steady rumble.
The young rancher still said nothing, his gaze fixed intently upon the shimmering water before him.
Again, the silence was broken, "But enough talk of sadness. I have a favor to ask of you, Link."
The young rancher tore his gaze from the spring and looked at his friend. Link listened intently; he would do anything for Rusl.
"I was supposed to deliver something to the royal family of Hyrule the day after tomorrow," Rusl began submissively, his eyes glazed with duty and passion. "Yes, it was a task set to me by the mayor, but…would you go in my stead?"
Link, taken aback, ushered a choked, "Of course."
Rusl shifted position, turning slightly to face Link. "You have never been to Hyrule, right?" he asked, thoughtful.
"No, sir," Link confirmed with a slight shake of his head.
Rusl sat back once more, launching into a brief description for the inexpert lad. "In the kingdom of Hyrule, there is a great castle, and around it is Castle Town, a community far bigger than our little village." He paused. "…And far bigger than Hyrule is the rest of the world the gods created. You should look upon it all with your own eyes."
Link chuckled. "Yes, I believe I shall."
Minutes passed and not another word was spoken. The two sat in silence, the only exception being the peaceful din of the spring's crashing water. Link tilted his head back, staring past the faint stars and into the melancholy orange that was twilight. He had never been to Hyrule but had often dreamed of it. What was it like there? He had been told many times by Rusl that it was a great place and that there was lots of activity in bustling Castle Town. He was very grateful for having been given such a wonderful opportunity.
Link's thoughts were interrupted when Rusl rose to his feet, brushing earthy debris from his clothes.
