How to Melt Lily Evans's Heart
by ocean.sunset
I am a GENIUS! Yes, that's right. I, James Potter, am an absolute GENIUS! I should be given an Order or Merlin, First Class! Everyone BOW DOWN to my immense and utter brilliance!
Okay, please don't doubt my sanity. You might already be doing so, since I'm boasting about my brainpower to a notebook. But henceforth, you won't be any ordinary notebook anymore. Henceforth, you shall be known as..
James Potter's "How to Melt Lily Evans's Heart" Handbook! Feel my wrath, world!
Okay, no. I don't want anyone to feel my wrath. I just want Lily Evans to fall in love with me. Is that so much to ask?
I've been running after her like a lovesick puppy since about forever, you see. We're already in our seventh year at Hogwarts, and she still doesn't give tuppence about me. But not for long! I shall come up with a brilliant, foolproof plan that will cause her to fall in love with me.
Then we shall marry and make beautiful babies together. I LOVE YOU EVANS!
.. Merlin, if Padfoot ever reads this I will do Avada on myself. I'd never hear the end of it from him otherwise!
But he doesn't understand how I feel about her. There's only ONE Lily Evans in the world, and she's going to be mine.
So today I will commence with my official attempts to melt her heart.
Attempt #1: Flatter her shamelessly, so she may realise that I'm a guy who appreciates her. Here we go!

OUCH. That didn't work. Here's what happened.
I went down to breakfast and spotted her immediately. I sat opposite her and said cheerfully, "Morning, Evans."
She didn't even look at me. She helped herself to another piece of toast and proceeded to look for something to spread on her bread.
I knew what she was looking for though - marmalade. Marmalade on bread is her favourite breakfast. (I know these things because I am an obsessed wreck.) Before she knew it, I was holding the only jar of it in my hands.
"Looking for this, Evans?"
She looked up and narrowed her beautiful green eyes at me. "Hand it over, please," she said coldly.
"I'll give it to you if you go out with me," I said, flashing her a grin.
She scoffed, however, took a jar of peanut butter instead and proceeded to spread it on her piece of toast.
Nooooooooo!
But I carried on with the plan anyway.
"You look wonderful even when you're eating, Evans," I said in desperation.
Suddenly, she started laughing. This raised my spirits. She was laughing at something I said! She abruptly stopped though, and, glaring at me, said coldly, "I pity you, Potter. You make me laugh," Then she left with her piece of toast.
Still as determined as ever, I ran after her. "Lily, I-"
She whipped around, but as she did so, her free hand accidentally hit the side of my face.
"OWWWW!" I yelled.
She faltered. "Ouch, sorry, Potter," she said politely.
I stood still, staring at her with my palm on the part of my face she had hit. Immediately I said, "I'll forgive you if-"
"Goodbye." And she walked off.
But I won't give up I say! Lily Evans is the only girl for me.

A/N: Sorry this is such a rocky chapter, it's been a while since I've done chaptered fanfictions, and I'm not quite used to them yet, so please pardon me. Also bear with the shortness, chapter length will grow eventually, once I get the hang of it.
Reviews would be appreciated, encouragement always inspires. Thank you!
