Parker remembers the first time she ever saw him.
She was in New York visiting Archie and he'd sent her to a nearby cafe to pick them up some breakfast pastries. He insisted she pay for it, she didn't know why but she respected her mentor's wishes, so she was stuck waiting in line. As she waited, she looked around at the other patrons to see if they had anything she wanted to lift on her way out. Archie only told her she couldn't steal breakfast, after all.
It was then that she spotted him sitting at a table near the window with a little boy, drinking what looked like hot chocolate. The thief wasn't sure where but she was sure she had seen the man before. Had she stolen from him before? Was he a friend of Archie's? That was it!
Eliot Spencer.
Archie had warned her about him. The older man had given her a folder full of pictures of people she should avoid and Eliot Spencer's was at the top of the pile. She was always told that if she ran into him, she should just abandon the job cause she wasn't going to win. The blonde had never bought into that, even less now that she was looking at him in person. This was the man who had liberated Croatia?
He was more handsome than the picture of him showed. He had his hair pulled back in a low pony tail, wearing worn out blue jeans and a soft looking flannel shirt. He looked so...normal. It was hard to believe he was so feared.
As she watched, he took a drink of his hot chocolate, deliberately giving himself a foam mustache then pretending he didn't know it was there as the little boy began to giggle. Parker found herself smiling at their interaction. Regretfully, she turned away to pay for her food and left the cafe.
oOo
Parker set the bag and coffee down on the counter in Archie's kitchen as her mentor took a seat, thanking her.
"I saw Eliot Spencer while I was out," the blonde said casually, causing the older man to choke on the sip of coffee he had just taken. He took a second to regain his composure, clearing his throat.
"Well you're lucky he didn't see you or he might have recognized you. That could have been dangerous." Parker smiled softly.
"He doesn't seem so bad."
A/N: The original prompt for this was to include the quote, "I saw him eating at a restaurant and let me tell you, he didn't seem so bad ass." I just modified it. So I invite you to give me any prompts you have for me. Put it in a review or you can go to my writing blog (link on profile) and leave me an ask. I would be forever grateful if you would. And if you just want to come chat with me, I'd love that too. R&R! :)
A/N 2: The little boy is Eliot's nephew.
