All Day Hell

All Day Hell

I grabbed a handful of cookies, and poured a glass of soymilk. Damn, 2more weeks till prom, and I still don't have an idea, of what my dress should look like. Should I go with the vintage/industrial look from the 1800's, when the girls wore there corsettes, and fluffed up bottoms, or should I go with the fancy mainstream glamour look, the halter top dress, with the rhinestones, and slit on the side to make me look even more appealing?

As I walked into my bedroom, I could hear my moms voice echoing in my ear, "Did he already get his suit? Ayy nina, and you still haven't got a dress yet, have you?" "Don't worry, I don't have tutoring tomorrow, Ill go to the school library and I'll look up some dresses online, I saw a website, and they have some original dresses, and there going for real cheap too…."

The next day, I googled for prom dresses websites, in my area, and a huge list of websites came up. Site after site, everything seemed plain, they all looked somewhat similar, and the color was grotesque, even somewhat tacky. Then I saw this beautiful burgundy dress, the vintage look was certainly an option. It was a long dress, with a tail in the back. It had a corsette to tighten the dress from the back. The dress opened up from the front of the bust, with black lace underneath the dress. It came with this beautifully wrapped metallic burgundy shawl. It was perfect. So I called to place the order. Because the dress was over 100 dollars, they had free regular ground shipping. I didn't think there was any reason for me to do a rush shipping since it would only take 4 business days to arrive. See, I was way ahead of everyone.

My dress arrived, and I was so eager, I almost tore the dress from the box. I ran to the restroom and my hands were still shaking from the excitement. As I was putting the dress on, I noticed that the waist was fitting loose. I thought I could just pull the corsette tighter from the back, but I realized the bust was also fitting big. My mom pulled on that dress, trying to make it as tight and snug on my body as much as possible. She decided the dress needed to be altered. Since the dress, fit me little large, the seamstress said they could take it in a size. I got the dress on a Thursday, and I wasn't able to make the change on the dress till the following Monday.

When I got the dress back, I tried it on at the tailors place. Somehow, she said that when they were sewing in the dress, the black lace underneath the skirt area, got caught. So instead sewing the dress in from the sides, they sewed it right in the middle of the dress. By the waist area. There was no way that dress could be fixed, if I had worn it the large slit was showing in the waist area.
