A/N: It should be known that I don't really like Meredith but I still wanted to write this.

"Hey, did you hear about Meredith's new boyfriend?"

"Meredith has a new boyfriend?"

"I hear he's a spinal surgeon."

"Now that's hot."

These conversations were going around Seattle Grace as the week continued. Meredith's new boyfriend survived a plane crash, Meredith's new boyfriend is a spinal surgeon. Meredith's new boyfriend is hotter than Derrick. Meredith's new boyfriend isn't as hot as Derrick. It just never ended.

It had started about a month after Derrick and Meredith had broken up. When they really really did break up. Without the break up sex. No they were officially over this time…. For now. Who knows?

Derrick moved on with Rose, and Meredith moved on … with life? If that's what she could call it. Rather she moved on with moping around all day about her life. Even Cristina was getting sick of it.

Then one day, the news that a new surgeon had been hired spread around the hospital. His name was Jack Shephard, and he was a spinal surgeon.

Callie, Cristina, and Izzie sat in the observation deck while they watched him perform his first surgery at the hospital.

"He's pretty cute." Izzie said.

"He has amazing skills." Cristina commented.

"Have you talked to Meredith about him yet?" Callie asked Cristina.

"What?"

"You say she's still not over Derrick."

"She'll never be over Derrick." Cristina rolled her eyes.

"You should introduce her to this guy. I hear he survived a plane crash. That is, if I don't get to him first."

"Oh please, the last thing this guy wants is another girl." Alex said. He was also observing the new guy.

"What are you talking about?" Izzie asked him.

"Apparently, he was in love with this fugitive who was also on the plane."

"Oh yeah, Kate Austin. I remember hearing about her." Cristina said.

"But she's in jail now. And now Jack, this guy, is trying to get over her."

"But that fugitive has been in jail for like three years now right?"" Cristina said.

"See, Meredith and Jack would be perfect together! They both have relationship issues and neither of them can let go!" Callie was proud of herself. "But if Meredith isn't interested, then let me know, cause I want him."

Cristina shook her head. "I don't know about this."

"You did say you were getting sick of her complaining to you all the time right?" Izzie asked her.

"Yeah." Cristina sighed." You guys are right. I guess it couldn't hurt right?"

And so the planning began.
