Toph looked around franticly, the flames licking her feet. She couldn't see, but maybe if she tried, she could find him. "Aang! Aang! Where are you?!" She screamed through the smoke, hoping that he would hear her and say something. But there was nothing. Just cries of despair and a wicked laughter. She tears emerge from her un-seeing eyes as she became more frantic and attempted to tell his footsteps from all the others. She heard water swish by as Katara ran past, extinguishing some of the flames.

"Everybody, run!" Katara cried as she attempted to shove the door open. Toph ran quickly to her side and bended a hole between the doors, allowing her comrades to pass through. She listened to footsteps as they passed by. Sokka, Katara, Zuko… Toph listened in desperation for Aang's footsteps, but they were unheard in the rumbling of the floor. "Aang!" She screamed out again as she was forcefully pulled through the hole by Zuko. She slammed onto the floor, and then was pulled up an instant later.

"Where's Aang?!" Toph cried as her hand was grasped and she was dragged through the halls, Zuko and Katara bending to fight off the soldiers that were closing in. He cries weren't heard, even when she was pulled up onto Appa. Zuko jumped onto the saddle, Katara at his side, and Sokka pulled Toph into a hug. "Yip yip!" Katara cried as Zuko cracked the reins. Appa hesitated, but when he saw soldiers coming into sight, he ascended, causing everyone to jolt slightly.

"Aang! Where's Aang?!" Toph repeated in despair as tears began to fall more fiercely. She heard a sob from the front and she knew. "Toph… Aang didn't make it…" She could hear Sokka whimper. "He's…" Katara sobbed as Zuko wrapped his arms around her, attempting to comfort her. "…dead." Toph burst into a crying fit, tears falling ever faster, in an even larger amount. "No!" She screamed. "Come… back Aang… please…" She sobbed more quietly. "…please come back…"
