Hi everyone! This is my first FanFiction, so I hope you enjoy and please review.
In the 1970's, in the British countryside, a small town was founded. It was given the name Camelot, for the founder was Uther Pendragon. While he had yet to discover his true identity, the name called out to him, and over time Uther built the town into a bustling city. However, one did know of his identity, one man who had waited years for any hint of the past. He had lived in the area for as long as anyone could remember, in a small cottage beside a sparkling lake. His name: Merlin.
"Exciting news today from the home of Uther Pendragon: it seems as though the future is bright for the Pendragons, as Igraine, Mr. Pendragons' wife, is expecting. We wish them best of luck on this new journey."

Merlin flipped the television off and leaned back into his recliner. So the time had finally come. The Once and Future King was on the rise. But a sense of dread suddenly overtook his relief. How was he to stop the past from re-creating itself?
Merlin was an old man, centuries old. Magic had long ago left the land, even though pockets of it resisted. As far as he knew, Merlin was the only one left in the whole of England that had any magic. Not that he used it. Though magic still flowed through his veins, Merlin had lost the will to use it over time. Now, it was just simpler to go without and stay hidden on the edge of society, just that strange old man that everyone recognized but no one knew. For he was an old man. Merlin had let himself age with Gwen, Percival, and Leon, and once they passed, the youthful body felt out of place, a harsh reminder of happier times.
After Gwen died, there was no heir to take her place, no one who commanded enough respect or was worthy of the position. Camelot slowly turned to dust, fought over by rival knights, ransacked by bandits, until the once-great city was just a blotch on the horizon, and it's lands held by the Saxons.
But Merlin didn't want to think of those dark days. Arthur was coming back. Albion was nearing. But how to prepare?
