Acceptance

Written for Gajevy week with the prompt 'Metallicana.'

Levy would admit that she was nervous meeting her boyfriend's foster father, who wouldn't be? It wasn't exactly every day that you meet a parent who just so happens to be a dragon. She was sure that she was sweating bullets and her breath was coming in short anxious puffs. What if Metallicana wouldn't accept her as an appropriate mate for his son? If that did happen she didn't know what she would do. Gajeel had only just recently found his father again and she wouldn't ever dream of tearing him away from him again. That brought a slight catch to her throat before she shook it off. 'Levy, you're being stupid. Gajeel loves you enough to let you in and ask you to be his mate. Besides it's not like I'd want him to choose between me and Metallicana.'

She wiped her forehead with her sleeves and tried to take in deep breaths to calm down her breathing. Worrying was only going to make things worse for everyone and she didn't want to be any trouble.

Gajeel came back to her after talking with the Iron Dragon for a bit just as she managed to settle down. She blushed slightly as she took his offered hand and followed him through the forest; she hoped he hadn't heard what she was doing.

After walking in a bit of a comfortable/awkward silence the two came to a clearing in the woods. It opened up to a wide space where you could see mountain peaks in the background and there was a gathering of flowers dotted in the lush grass once in a while. Levy was so taken in by the beauty of this place that she almost missed the huge black dragon curled up under the shade of many big trees.

He didn't move from his spot, seemingly comfortable exactly where he was but inclined his head for her to come over to him. She looked to Gajeel who nodded encouragingly and pushed her forward gently as he mouthed 'go on.'

She walked up to the black dragon and tried not to shake too much as she got closer to him, she couldn't help but be scared by him – who wouldn't be when they were being stared down by a huge Iron Dragon?! Her one comfort right now was that she could feel Gajeel close behind her as support. Metallicana just stared at her for a while as she tried to compose herself and just as she was about to try and say something, he interrupted in a deep, slow and sort of rusty voice.

"I approve." Levy blinked; just like that she was accepted? "You clearly are afraid but you do not turn back or try to hide. You wish to make Gajeel happy and would do anything he asked of you. I have spoken with Gajeel beforehand as you know, and he seems happy. And while you are smaller than I would have wished for him," She pouted, wondering why she had to be so small, "you have a good heart according to what he says and I will trust his judgement. But as I believe many of your modern parents would say, 'hurt him and I'll tear you apart,' so you must believe me when I say I have the tools at my disposal to do it." She nodded so fast that her neck cricked and she heard the deep chuckling of her mate and his father.

Very short and not the best but it's better than nothing.
