Author's Note:

Hi, First time writing, just to warn you. It is a one-shot, a short one at that… This may be completely terrible but let's give it a try shall we?

Game Over

By: LongingforSweetness

The world blurred as her body registered its movement; the trees flying by as she ran faster than many thought possible. Her thoughts tumbling about, overlapping each other; run, escape, hide. So focused, so occupied by her mission that she didn't realize she was muttering the words clouding her mind. Then it was always pain, pain and darkness. The footsteps behind her gradually became clearer and clearer, the touch of his breath upon her neck making her shiver and attempt to run again; further, faster. But all was futile. As the clearing came into view once more, she let out a cry; "NO" almost feral, the simple agony almost tearing it in two, her exhaustion and fatigue visible as it dragged her to her knees. "Yes, my pet." Her head rose, spine cracking sharply in protest at the sheer speed of the movement. Her emerald eyes misty with terror, she scrabbled backwards, trying to get as far from the sound as she possibly could. A low chuckle sounded, echoing throughout her mind. Her cheeks became wet as she realized she could not escape. She curled her knees to her chest as she wept; blood smearing across her face as she laid her head upon her arms.

He smirked as he entered the clearing; as he saw her. Small cuts forming a diamond web upon her, where the leaves had touched her as she ran from him. Her speed causing them to act as daggers. Twigs caught in her choppy hair, giving the illusion of a cherry blossom tree. His silent stride halted as he caught her, the queen among pawns; his queen. "Sa-ku-ra" he crooned, she froze. "Itachi". She shivered as his name crossed her tongue. Game over, a new one would soon begin.
