May Angels Lead You In

He laid a hand on her mahogany casket. The wood was cold and smooth, like her skin now was. A tear slipped down his cheek. His voice trembled as he spoke.

"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry." He took a shaky breath. He had to get this out. "I couldn't have done it without you, you know. But I'll never get to tell you that. I've caused this... you would say I didn't." He laughed a humorless laugh. "But I did. I really did. If only you could see the world, see me, now. So strong, so lucky, so proud." His emphasis had the sound of bitterness. His voice turned sad once again. "But it's because of you people think that. Because of you we all made it through. If you weren't behind me every step of the way... I don't know what I would have done. I never did say thank you for that. And now..." He took a deep, shuddering breath. "Now I'll never get to." A sob escaped his lips and he hung his head. The sobs wracked his body. He heard footsteps behind him, and a hand pressed down upon his shoulder. He brought his head up and looked to the side to see Ron standing there, tears trickling down his face as well.

"You know," Ron's voice choked as he tried to get the words out, "she'd be proud of us, of you. She really world." He sniffed. "She was... she was the type of girl that would have given anything to see us happy. Angels are going to lead her into heaven. They truly are." Ron tried to smile a little. Harry tried to smile back, but it faltered and fell off his face. Both men hugged each other and let their tears run out. They took one last look at the picture of her with her arms around the two of them, laughing and trying to get them to smile as the picture was being taken. The image played over and over, on repeat.

"What will we do without her Ron?"

"I don't really know Harry. But I do know that no matter what we choose to do in life, we need to keep our girl in mind every step of the way." Both men gave the casket one last glance, and turned and walked out of the church, knowing that no matter what, what Ron said was right. Angels would lead her in.
