It's not that Kevin isn't happy when the Winchesters offer him a place to stay in their 'batcave'-it's just that he really needs to concentrate on the tablet. And, as evidenced from when his mom had been staying with him, he can't do that with people around. Just because the Winchesters say the Men of Letters bunkhouse is safe, doesn't mean he'll get to concentrate.
Sam smiles at him persuasively when he voices his concerns. "You don't need to worry about us bugging you if that's the issue. We really just need you to translate something we find every now and then."
"Yeah," Dean says, fiddling with curiosity at some of the notes on the wall, "feel free to tell us to fuck off anytime you want."
"Really?" he asks with disbelief.
Dean shakes his head. "No, not really; we're angry guys and we can kill you."
Kevin gulps.
Sam sends his brother a bitch-face. "You're the one who's always angry Dean, not me."
Dean snorts and turns around, squaring his shoulders. "Do I need to remind you what you almost did to me when I accidentally burned your favorite shirt last week?"
"That wasn't an accident, Dean! Accidents don't just-"
"Why the hell would I purposely-"
"And it's burnt, not burned-"
As the brothers began to delve deeper into yet another trivial argument about anger-management problems and correct grammar, Kevin sighs and goes back to working on the demon tablet, thinking of ways to gently tell them that he's fine with the safe-house boat when in actuality, he really hates the stupid vessel.
Anything's better than listening to those two argue all the time though.
