The Doctor looked at Rose. She smiled.
"I told you that this is better than spending all our time in the TARDIS!" She giggled.
Hands intertwined, they looked up at the stars that were seen so clearly in the open countryside. Rose rested her head on the Doctor's shoulder.
"In all my 900 years, I've never gone camping," He said.
"Consider it a privilege," She laughed.
"It is since it's with you…" he mumbled seriously.
Rose looked up at him but he had turned away, embarrassed that he had said it out loud.
She looked him right in the eyes. "I couldn't agree more."
His eyes watered; he was just so happy that this amazing girl felt the same way about him.
They hugged tightly and didn't let go for about half an hour. They had all the time in the world anyway.
"You look beautiful in the moonlight," the Doctor whispered.
He lay down on the blanket. Rose put her head on his chest. They looked up once more at the stars.
"I can name more than half of these," the Doctor bragged to Rose.
She laughed. "Go on, then!"
"Oh, right now? Well, I'd need a reference, maybe an encyclopedia."
She smiled. "That's cheating."
"It was never unpermitted!" He protested.
"Fine," she chuckled.
"So, out of every alien you've seen and planet you've visited, what was your favorite part?" The Doctor asked.
"Spending the time with you," she said, and lightly pecked him on the cheek.
"Really?" He was truly astonished. There were so many things that they had seen, how could this beautiful girl settle for him?
"Yes! And, out of everything mankind has ever made, what is your favorite creation?" She asked him back.
"You." He replied without a moment's hesitation.
She blushed, and then yawned.
"Go to sleep, Rose…" He whispered.
She drifted off into unconsciousness as he stroked her hair, whispering "I love you…and only you."
He had spent around 300 years without her. Yet every day, he still missed her. He was just a shell of his old self without her. Even as a new body, he still had the same two hearts, filled with love for Rose Tyler.
The Doctor could hear Clara snoring in her room. She was a good companion, but not the same. He thought through all the companions he'd had since Rose had been taken away from him.
He lay down on his bed.
"I love you , Rose Tyler, and I always will," He said to the thin air.
Tears streamed down his cheeks.
"Only you will have my heart…" He murmured, and cried himself to sleep.
