Normally I'm not so anxious, but when the life of your best friend is at stake you're going to be nervous. Angela had passed out near the river and had fallen into it. Luckily, Renee and Toby had found her and brought her to the clinic. The bad thing is Jin can't get her to wake up.
I'm here with Pops and Bo waiting on some news. We're bracing for the worse though. Pops is sitting down watching me pace around. Bo's got this pretty grim look. Doctor Jin is walking out now. He wiped his glasses with his coat and shook his head. "There's nothing we can do."
My whole world went crashing down. I wanted to grab Jin by his coat and yell, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING FOR HER?" I almost did, but Pops held me back. Instead, I asked, "Are you sure?" the best I could without raising my voice or my voice cracking. He shook his head. "You may go in and see her, but only one at a time," he said. "I don't think she'll make it past morning."
I went in first. Angela looked terrible. A machine was the only thing keeping her alive. I almost crashed to the floor. She looked like a ghost. Her skin was an abnormally pale color, and her hair was all matted and tangled from where she struggled to stay on top of the water where the rapids were terrible. I grabbed a chair and sat down near the bed. "Please Angela, you have too much to live for to die. You have a farm; you have prize winning animals and crops that only you know to take care of the way you do. Please Angela, you're the only one who gets me the you do. Please Angela, don't die." It was raining outside, and the clinic closed in about ten minutes. But I didn't care. "Angela, you are too close to me to die. I need you around. Please Angela, you're my best friend."
No one came to see her at all other than us. Am I the only who cares whether she dies or not? I mean even her stupid boyfriend Gill didn't show up for more than five minutes! I mean she kept this island alive, and all he cares about is whether he's elected mayor or not! Just thinking about that twit just makes me angry. I mean how did he end up with her?
"Luke?" asked a voice interrupting my brooding, "we have to go." I looked at Pops. "One more second….please," I said gloomily. Pops seemed to understand why I needed to be alone. He dealt with the same thing when Mom died. "Please Angela, I want you to live. Even if every one else doesn't, I do. Please if no one else live for me I'm begging you.
We left in a hurry. I hate being this silent, but I can't say anything. I went home and just collapsed into bed. I seemed to stay awake for forever thinking about Angela. I closed my eyes and entered into sleep. I might have been asleep for a while, but it only seemed like five minutes later when I heard Bo yell, " LUKE, LUKE, IT'S A MIRACLE!" I sleepily rubbed my eyes, "What did Molly ask you out or something?"
"No! Angela's okay! They got her to-" That's all I heard I rushed out of my house and ran to the clinic to see my best friend.
