Like The Sunset
Shino walked down the deserted street, very tired and very filthy from their recent mission. He took his time in walking towards home. He relished the feeling of calm brought by the silence. Not long after, he noticed that he wasn't alone. Soon enough, he spotted his teammate, Hinata, strolling around the same street.
"Hinata- chan, what are you doing here?"
"Ano… um, I- I was just taking a walk s-since there was nothing else to do."
There was a moment of silence when Shino spoke.
"Would you like to take a walk with me, then?"
"That would be nice." Hinata answered with a small smile on her lips.
The sun was setting already, casting a red glow over the sky and the surroundings. The two continued to walk down the path when Hinata suddenly stopped. Shino was a bit surprised at this and turned to Hinata.
"So beautiful." Hinata mumbled under her breath. Shino followed her line of vision and saw the setting sun.
'Just like her.' Shino thought.
"Oh, gomen nasai, Shino- kun. I shouldn't have stopped walking." Hinata apologized while bowing her head.
"It's fine. Do you want to watch the sunset?"
"I- If it doesn't b- bother you, Shino- kun."
"It's okay." Shino replied before turning towards the sun.
The two Konoha nins stayed until the sun had completely set. It was a beautiful picture, with the birds flying across the sky as the sun rests its glory to the west.
"Arigatou, Shino- kun. I should be heading home now." Hinata said while smiling softly.
"I'll walk you."
"Y- You don't need to-…"
"Let's go."
Hinata meekly followed as Shino started walking. They immediately reached the Hyuuga compound.
"Thank you, Shino- kun. I really enjoyed the afternoon." After a pause, she blurted out, "I hope we could do this again some other time." Managing to find the courage to say those words.
The bug controller was very much surprised but it didn't show in his features. (A/N: You're so cool Shino- kun!) He admired her for managing to say it to him and without stuttering at that.
"I'll be looking forward to it,"
He started to make his way towards home, once again finding himself in the silence of the street. He looked up the sky and saw the full moon with the cluster of tiny lights spread across the heavens.
'What a graceful evening.' He mused before walking away.
IN THE HYUUGA COMPOUND
Hinata was preparing for bed when something caught her eye. She walked towards the window and saw a pure white butterfly fluttering around. She reached out her hand and it slowly rested on her index finger.
"Oyasumi- nasai too, Shino- kun."
A/N: This is my first 'official' fic. It's too short, I know, but if I receive quite a number of reviews or requests to continue this fic, I would be glad to do so. Constructive criticism is very much welcome. Please tell me if you didn't like this fic. Thank you very much for reading.
