As I looked down from my balcony, I could see the heavy rain pour down on everything within its reach. The rain smacked the roof of the rusty orange car which stood beneath my building while some people quickly tried to shelter themselves from the rainfall, others enjoyed the blessing of rain and let it pour down on to them until they were completely wet. I saw the rain splash against the rim of a man's faded blue cap and slide down his black leather jacket.

The sky appeared to be gloomy and dark as thick, black clouds completely covered it. However, there was something about the rain that brought it joy and happiness to each individual's face. I witnessed huge and deep puddles on dull pavements and roads which gave them a shimmering touch. The roof of the grocery store underneath my building seemed spotlessly clean as the rain managed to remove the dust from it. The plants on my balcony looked fresher than ever as the raindrops trickled down the leaves and onto the floor.

The sound of rain hitting the glass windows brought a smile to my face. The pitter-patter soothing my nerves. I could hear them fall into puddles at speed, filling them more and more with water. The soft subtle sound of the rain poured slowly into the glass I was holding, until it was completely full.

As I held out my arm to feel the rain, it touched my skin gently, tracing my scars leaving a tingling sensation that made me shiver. Almost as if washing away my past.

In contrast to the arid heat, I enjoyed and welcomed the rain, leaving me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, something that I haven't felt in a long time.

I looked at my reflection in the small puddle on the floor of my balcony as these tears from paradise continued to fall. It is strange what a mesmerizing effect the rain can have on you.
