Something I typed up for the beginning of a thread in a roleplay long ago, but I thought it could stand alone. So, it's here. Pokespe canon.

If one were to watch her now, she must have looked even more stunning than usual. Her charm seemed to always work that way. The more depressed she was, the more almost untouchable she appeared. Her "champion" aura showed more and more, shining ever so brightly. Even Garchomp hesitated for a second before approaching her.

She didn't turn towards the dragon/ground type. Her arms were to her sides as she stared up at the moonlight. Slowly, deliberately, she reached up for them, pretending to grasp them in her hands. A frown marred her features as she grew more and more frustrated with herself. This was silly. This was stupid. She should be glad the chaos is finally over. She should be glad that everything was the way it should be. Except he is still missing. She shook her head lightly, finally acknowledging Garchomp's approach. His words still bothered her, even now.

"Tell me, Garchomp. Is my heart incomplete?"

The dragon pokemon said nothing. What was there for her to say that would comfort the woman? She had been part of the problem. If rage hadn't taken her over, she felt that they would have won. Miss Champion, your heart is incomplete. The words buried themselves within her mind. The title alone had irritated her. Miss Champion It made her clench her fists tightly and want to punch the smug grin on his face. But, that wasn't her style. She was far better than petty things like that.

She took a deep breath as she unclenched her fists. There was no use getting mad at someone who was no longer there. If anything, she was determined to prove him wrong. Just ... what was it that she was missing? "If my heart is incomplete ... just what do I need to do to complete it, Garchomp?" Another rhetorical question.

"Chomp." The pokemon spoke suddenly, and she spun towards the dragon, hair fluttering all around as she did so. Her eyes widening a little from surprise. She didn't expect her to speak. Not at all. Cynthia half expected Garchomp to just take in her trainer's odd mood and watch.

She ran to Garchomp, hugging the dragon tightly. It didn't matter if the dragon couldn't speak in human words. Cynthia understood her just fine. Just because her heart may or may not be complete, it shouldn't stop her from being who she was. She was Cynthia the Sinnoh Champion. The trainer that grew up in caves and ruins, starting from Celestic Town. The pokemon mythological researcher. The trainer who had a habit of stalking whomever she found interesting ... and despite all the trouble it could be, that was what made Cynthia, well, Cynthia. Even Garchomp wouldn't have it any other way.

After a while, she began to laugh, feeling foolish to be standing there like some fool. "I guess what they say is true then, huh? A maiden's heart is darkest at night." The dragon pokemon scoffed a little at that, feeling somewhat put off by the sudden change in attitude from her trainer. The blonde couldn't help laughing even more from that.

She looked up to the stars once more. They were going to perfect that move. That had been why they had come here in the first place, waiting until the dark of night for their attack to blend in with the starlight. She looked to Garchomp who nodded, and sighed quietly. Are you ready? She didn't have to say the words before Garchomp shifted to allow her to climb onto the dragon's back.

Up into the night sky, they flew prepared to create stars of their own.
