Chapter One
"Good morning, Yui."
No response. Not even a reaction. He's used to it by now but as expected it still stings.
"Good morning, Eve" Azusa followed.
"We have a nice weather today." He placed the tray he's holding down and the younger vampire imitated him "Why don't we take a stroll and view the flowers together when we finish breakfast?"
After making sure that all is set he sat on the floor in front of her. Ruki looked at his brother and thanked him as he made his way out of the room.
"Shall we eat?"
I'm inhumane? Even though you're nothing but mere prey?
She stared at the food with vacant eyes.
You're not hungry? Don't give me that, my prey needs to be well fed.
My prey needs to be well fed. Her master's words echoed in her head. That's right. She needs to eat since blood from a corpse isn't appetizing at all. So she reached for the spoon. You're nothing, but mere prey. However, her hand didn't touched the utensil. You have no need for these. You should eat like the livestock you are.
He could guess why but he had to hear it from her "Don't you like the food?" He asked softly "If you have any preferences I can make it right away."
It's laughable how has no idea what her favorite food is-he doesn't even know anything about her other than her name and that her blood is exquisite.
Now that he think about it he realized that everything in her possesion; the clothes she wears, the wallpaper in her room, the bed cover, and even her lingerie were all forced on her. He never-not even once-asked what she liked. What she truly wanted. If he had, would she had been a little bit happier?
Well, there's no use thinking about what's done. He'll reap what he sow.
His eyes were filled with woe "Won't you eat unless I become cruel?"
Ruki doesn't want to do terrible things to her anymore but he's left with no choice. If he doesn't do this she won't eat and she'll die of starvation. Humans are weak after all.
With a heavy heart he grabbed her plate and spilled its contents on the floor. She leaned down, ate with her bare hands, and chewed with her mouth open.
'What's so amusing about this?' He cursed himself. He used to feel satisfaction toying with her and enjoy mistreating her in the past. Now it seems pointless and ridiculous. It pains him to see her like this. To see her loose her humanity.
Ruki parted his lips to say something but Yui beat her to it "Today's breakfast is delicious."
He's wracked with guilt nevertheless, the vampire returned her smile "I'm glad."
