Mobil Suit Gundam Wing: Alternate Symphony

Ch. 1 The Falling Star He Saw

In After Colony 195 the United Earth Sphere Alliance ruled the earth and colonies, oppressing and removing anyone they deemed a threat. Their totalitarian rule has caused five colonies to secretly rebel against the organization and send five elite soldiers to free them and to attain peace. This silent rebellion is known as Operation Meteor.

R-

On Colony 1 a young pilot prepares to launch with instructions to head for Earth. The screen in their cockpit came on showing an elderly man with long gray hair and small dark circular glasses.

"Are you ready?" he asked.

"Yes Dr. J" replied the pilot.

Dr. J laughed dryly, "Sad that it has to come to this but peace is not coming any time soon and we've given the Alliance plenty of times to reform their methods. So now Operation Meteor must begin," he sighed.

"Have a safe journey Relena," he smiled. She gave a small nod and her screen went back to showing the abundance of outer space.

From where she was sitting it appeared that space and the Earth lived together in tranquility. Yet nothing could be farther from the truth. Her shuttle began to slowly move forward before picking up speed and making the lights that aligned the hatch blur behind her as she finally launched, heading rapidly for Earth.

As she approached the living planet Relena's mind couldn't help reminisce the last five years that had lead up to this moment in her life.

A piece of her still missed the quiet and calm days of learning to be a socialite as a child, she did not speak much to anyone but enjoyed the company of the people she did befriend. Her brother Milliardo would visit her periodically but never stayed for long and she learned not to ask where he went knowing she would never get a direct answer.

The only thing she did she loathe back then was having to be socially prepared just to appease the people that threatened her adopted family. She had to smile cheerfully and bear through it.

Learning of her Peacecraft lineage came later when her brother and her adoptive parents, who turned out to be faithful subjects of her biological family, told her the fate of the Peacecrafts.

However it wasn't that revelation that caused her to run away and become a Gundam pilot.

The event that lead her down this path happened during another of her parents' social functions when she was just ten years old. The party started off normal enough, the typical posturing to prove significance, speaking to alter minds to suit one's true motives.

Relena was already aware of the unfair policy being forced upon the Colonies, yet it was the degrading character of which these representatives from the Earth Sphere behaved towards her father and his colleagues that had driven her to leave the house and into the misty night.

She had been seething at that point, Relena wanted to speak out against these insults but doing so could possibly put her family in jeopardy. So she had walked away, feeling secure because she didn't put her parents in harm's way by saying something dangerous, but also feeling traitorous for not speaking against the representatives.

Her mind was so focused on her dilemmas that she didn't notice she had wandered into the more beaten down areas of the city. Relena may have been known to be a very calm child in almost any situation. But she had been just a child, with no idea where she was, at night.

She had panicked. Crying while trying to retrace her steps or looking for a familiar landmark that could lead her back home. Running in the partially misty streets and with tears in your eyes did not make for a good combination. Relena had managed to find a few opened stores and what looked like a bar but was intimidated by the people standing outside that she didn't dare enter to ask for help.

Her fatigue got the best of her however when she found an old bookstore that was still open late in the evening and with no other options of finding help she took her chances and bravely stepped into the store. Despite its old appearance Relena could remember it was a nice and clean place with books saluting her from floor to ceiling shelves and other mismatched shelves that were aligned in the middle of the room.

Doctor J had been barely noticeable among those cold shelves.

And now here she was five years later, one of the last surviving heirs of the Sanc Kingdom throne in the cusp of waging guerrilla warfare against the United Earth Sphere Alliance. Thinking about this made her want to laugh. It sounded improbable and ridiculous.

Yet it was completely real. After all Relena hadn't imagined the last five years training in the conducts of warfare, infiltration, and more during the long hours of night and continuing her lessons in etiquette by day. She had been determined to master Wing Gundam and still preserve the appearance of an ideal social debutant.

But she knew part of her never really wanted this day to come. Unlike her other missions she would actually be piloting her Gundam and unleashing unimaginable chaos to enemy and civilians alike.

"That is War," she said solemnly, "the inevitable event that occurs when there are disagreements in power."

Her shuttle began closing in on the Earth's atmosphere.

"But now the history of war will be rewritten once more with this Gundam," and Relena could only hope that she would be the last to have to use it in battle.

Then the radar began to notify her that a civilian shuttle was blocking the entry route to Earth.

'I don't have time to maneuver around it without being seen,' she thought grimly.

"… I can't let my mission be compromised," she aimed towards the shuttle and prepared to fire.

"I'm sorry," she whispered, knowing it would never be enough of a consolation.

N-

"Everything going smoothly?" asked a dark haired woman.

"Yes Lieutenant Noin there's nothing to report, everything's calm so far" replied one of the two pilots.

"Alright then carry on," Lieutenant Lucrezia Noin and two of her subordinates were patrolling the Earth's atmosphere and would be returning to base soon. They were given details of their mission but it appeared as if it might have to be canceled.

Noin, a member of the United Earth Sphere Alliance and of the OZ organization, was known for being a skilled strategist in battle, not only that but also a ruthless teacher since some of the best officers and soldiers in the Alliance and in OZ where once under her tutelage.

However even with these accomplishments she did not graduate at the top of her class, coming in second to her close friend Zechs Marquise. Many refereed to him as the Lightning Count due to his incredible speed on the battlefield. And few people knew of his true identity of being a Peacecraft.

He revealed his origins to her when they were in the Lake Victoria Academy, after they had gained each other's trust and respect. Which she had earned after she beat some sense into him.

Currently duty separated them but they kept in contact.

"Lieutenant Noin!" alerted one of the pilots.

Noin snapped out of her previous thoughts, "What is it?"

"The Alliance's satellite surveillance had picked up five meteorites going towards Earth. Take a look," he brought up a demographic of the meteorites trigectory.

"They're not meteors," she said after observing them, "meteorites wouldn't follow the wave course towards Earth so smoothly."

'So this is the Colonies Operation Meteor that Zechs had mentioned,' she thought.

"How many can we catch?" She asked the pilots.

"Only one, the one headed for Easter Eurasia" said the pilot and they pulled up a view of the supposed meteorite. Closer up they could see it was a shuttle . . . and that it was on a direct collision course with a civilian space shuttle.

"It's heading straight for that shuttle!" said the second pilot.

"They wouldn't, it would botch their mission since they are supposed to enter Earth without being detected. An explosion is one hell of a way to make yourself known."

Besides she didn't want the foreign shuttle to be destroyed immediately this was their mission after all, which included the capture of the pilot and if possible the weapon that was being transported inside the shuttle as well.

H-

"Well at least our business in the Colonies didn't take so long and we'd made it back in time to celebrate your birthday Heero," Odin Lowe looked toward his ever beloved and silent son.

Heero merely nodded his head seeming perfectly normal from a distance but if examined close enough they would be able to see the tall tail signs of fatigue.

While Heero's father had political business in the Colony Summit meeting, he had kept busy by infiltrating the Alliance bases in the same colony to gain any new information that could be to their advantage.

This explained his slightly disheveled appearance. He didn't even get a chance to change clothing so he wore a green t-shirt and jeans that were large enough to conceal his light combat suit underneath.

And for all the work he had done he had only been able to extricate information that was heavily coded and would need further investigation. The only thing that was of great interest to himself or his father was that the Alliance was keeping a closer eye on the movements that were occurring between the Earth and Space today.

He knew his father had not planned for a shipment of supplies to be sent to the Colonies today so Heero knew that couldn't be the reason the Alliance was on alert. Nonetheless he had sent a message to his father's rebel factions to refrain from any space travel for the time being until the Alliance's alert had passed.

Heero looked out the window of the shuttle and just stared at the passing scenery of Space.

"You can't even tell there's a war going on huh Heero?" he heard his father say. But his attention was now fully focused on the object speeding its way towards Earth.

'What is that?' he thought. Heero deduced it was some form of high speed shuttle but none that he had seen before.

"Looks like Operation Meteor has begun," his father spoke. Heero looked at him expecting an answer but only getting a tired smile in reply.

Heero merely returned to look out were the shuttle had passed them,

'I will just look up this operation when we get home,' he thought.

R-

Relena swiftly dodged the attack from the Alliance Shuttle.

'So they've seen me,' she thought. 'Well I guess it's time to start sooner than I expected.'

Yet she continued towards the Earth knowing the Alliance Shuttle would follow.

'At least that civilian shuttle was sparred.'

The shuttle she was in had served its purpose and she promptly removed it, allowing her fighter craft form to take flight. Relena had wanted to release the shuttle when she was further in the Earth's atmosphere but her craft could handle the heat from the Earth's protective layer.

"It is a Gundam after all," she smiled.

At least in this mode she could lose the Alliance shuttle pursuing her but just as she was about to speed off Wing notified her that the Alliance shuttle was carrying mobile suits.

'Alright,' she thought.

Relena turned around and began assaulting the military shuttle. She saw that a Leo suit come out and she quickly maneuvered herself above them shooting them with her lighter artillery. However the pilot proved to be more capable and shot at her with their canon which she dodged and passed them once more. Which gave the Leo the chance to hit her right wing, Wing notified her that it had retained little damage.

"Not bad," she said aloud.

Now that they had passed the Earth's upper atmosphere two Aries suits followed right after the Leo and went after her. Relena didn't want to draw out this scrimmage any further so she switched the fighter craft from its jet form into its mobile suit form and faced the opposing Aries.

"You're done," she said and aimed her buster rifle at the Aries and shot them down.

N-

'What kind of suit is that?' Noin thought as she witnessed the mobile suit shoot down the two Aries.

The suit speedily approached her and Noin immediately parried the attack from the foreign suit's saber, she hit them with her shield, and tried cutting them down with her own saber. But it quickly blocked her, yet by doing so they had left their midsection open. What they didn't expect was for her not to take the opportunity to attack but to lock her grip on their suit and send them plummeting to the ocean below.

'Whatever this suit is I intend to find out, we can't do that if it's been battered too much,' Noin smirked while she exited her cockpit and jumped away from her Leo.

Noin quickly opened her parachute which lifted her for a moment pulling her shoulders roughly but she was secure.

"Lieutenant Noin!" said one of the pilots on her ear piece.

"What is it?" she replied to the pilots in the shuttle, all the while watching the two suits plummet towards the ocean.

"We've got some intel on what that suit is made up, apparently it' entirely forged from gundanium alloy."

"So it was a Gundam," she said aloud.

"Sir?"

'I didn't think the Colonies would be so technologically advanced let alone have the resources to build mobile suits like that,' she thought. She watched both suits crash and cause the water to churn violently until the suits sunk.

"Lieutenant, the Marina Mother Ship is offering to salvage the foreign suit if you want," said her subordinate.

"Fine, tell them it sank in the J.A.P. Point of the Asia Area," she said, "And once you've done that come pick me up," she ordered.

"Yes Sir!" they replied.

Her shuttle began closing in on her and she looked underneath herself where the two suits had disappeared.

'It's a shame about the pilot though, they couldn't have survived that crash,' she thought.

H-

It had taken a few more hours but they had finally reached Earth. He and Odin were immediately assaulted by reporters wanting to know how the Colony Summit had gone, if anything was resolved or had progressed, and if it was true that the Colonies were really planning an attack on Earth.

'Just another part of our daily lives,' Heero thought and politely ignored the reporters being cautious enough so they wouldn't be too near him. He didn't want them to accidently bump into him and possibly feel the weapons that were being concealed underneath his shirt.

His father was escorted away by Alliance soldiers so he could meet with General Septum. The soldiers turned to him and offered Heero transportation so he could return home but he declined.

"I'll find my own way home, but thanks for the offer," he said.

The soldiers nodded and left with their entourage. What Heero refrained from saying was that he didn't trust the Alliance let alone their soldiers to take him anywhere. So he walked in silence for a couple of miles leaving the military base further behind with each step. By the time he actually made it to the public section the sun was already setting while he passed by the gated beach.

He stopped for a moment and just stared at a military plane flying overhead.

'What would have this place become had the military not taken it over?' he thought.

A few scenarios sped through his mind but Heero just shook his head deciding to continue his walk home. As he took a few steps his peripheral vision caught something below him on the beach.

He quickly realized it was human body washed up on shore and rushed at the gate that separated the side walk from the beach. As he approached the body he noted the military uniform.

Heero believed the soldier might already be dead until he noticed them move a fraction and shutter lightly. Although he didn't like the Alliance that didn't mean he would automatically condemn this soldier to death.

He couldn't use the cell phone he had since it was the one he used to contact his father's rebel factions, using it might link his phones with the others. Heero decided to run back to the base or at the very least to one of the pay phones that he had passed earlier to call for help.

U-

"So three of Noin's mobile suits were destroyed?" questioned Lady Une.

"Yes," answered Treize, "and they were destroyed by a suit that was made up of gundanium alloy. It seems the Colonies were able to complete the first stage of their mission."

"So it seems," she agreed and continued to stare at the singers performing in front of them.

She and Treize where enjoying an opera before heading over to a meeting with the Alliances top officials. She would no doubt here about the destruction of the threes suits in the meeting.

"Treize, I will handle the officials in the meeting. They will ruffle their feather undoubtedly but I'm sure they will calm down after enough persuasion," she said.

"Good, and I have informed Noin not to anger the Alliance any further, we are reaching a very critical time after all," Treize lowered his opera glasses and turned to her.

Lady Une smiled at him and nodded. Une was seen as the co-leader of the Alliances Specials Unit along with Treize, but she didn't mind letting him handle some of the political and delegate aspects of the group while she focused primarily on the Specials activity.

Occasionally she too had to appear before the Alliance's officials. However Lady Une believed that soon their organization would take over the United Earth Sphere Alliance and they would finally be able to progress towards a better future.

Heero returned after calling for help from one of the payphones. As he waited he knelt down beside the soldier on the mildly wet sand and decided to remove their helmet to help improve their breathing. What he saw next caught him off guard.

"It's a girl?" he said as the girl's blonde hair fell limp behind her.

'That would explain why their suit was much smaller than a typical soldier's,' he thought.

She appeared to be just an ordinary girl and completely out of place wearing a soldiers army suit.

'At least her breathing is steady and she doesn't seem to have any further injuries,' he thought.

Heero then saw her open her eyes, she hastily jumped up and stepped away from him, using her hand to cover half her face. Her eyes were now alert and focused as if she had never been unconscious a few seconds ago.

Heero noticed the strange reaction but opted to not frighten her further.

"Stay calm the ambulance is almost here," sirens could be heard from a distance proving him correct.

"Did you see?" she asked.

"See what?" he questioned.

The ambulance was quickly making their way to them but then Heero was once more surprised by the nameless girl. She had promptly pressed a button on her chest and hit her wrist which caused a small explosion.

"What are you doing!?" he yelled as soon as he snapped out of his shock and seeing her lift her head, the explosion had only knocked her down a few feet away.

He heard her hiss and pick herself up. She passed him hurriedly, aiming for what appeared to be the ambulance that had just come to a stop, the three paramedics that were unknowingly here to help her where swiftly removed from her way.

She then hopped over the roof of the ambulance to the driver's door and pulled out the driver speeding off as soon as she closed the door.

Heero stared intently at the retreating ambulance.

Despite being taken aback about everything that had just occurred he could only think two things.

"Who are you?" he said aloud.

'And which side are you on?'
