AUTHOR'S NOTES: Don't get me wrong... I love Bobby a lot. He's such a good guy. No idea why the writers decided to do what they did to him. This was written before the episode after Requiem, so I have no idea what happened to him as of yet. This is my take on what Bobby's last moments were like. Comments welcome.WARNING!!! If you haven't seen Requiem For A Bantamweight yet, I advise you to TURN BACK!!! Unless you really want to be depressed...
Much Too Soon
By PedelleaThe pain was unbearable.
Mixed with shock and fear and agony, Bobby stumbled and slumped against the wall, smearing everything he touched with his blood. His breaths came in short gasps and his vision began to swim.
He saw Paulie's intense gaze at him, his reaching down into the toilet bowl to retrieve his precious drugs. Drugs that destroyed his life. Precious enough to destroy another man's life.
As Bobby watched Paulie back away out of the bathroom, he heard Kim's horrified voice calling out his name. Seeing her, Paulie pointed his gun to her head, and the two disappeared behind the doorway. [Please God, don't let anything happen to Kim,] Bobby pleaded in his mind, terrified for her safety.
For two tormenting minutes that seemed to stretch on for eternity, Bobby agonized over the situation he had gotten his partner into. He longed to protect her, to make sure she was safe, but it was a great struggle just to stay alive. He couldn't get air into his oxygen starved lungs and the world started to fade, but he had to make sure Kim was okay.
He was helpless to do anything for her, or for himself. Was it the end for him?
Just as he thought he couldn't go on, he saw Kim's face in the doorway once again. His eyes briefly flashed of relief and then all emotion faded away from them. [Thank God Kim's okay. Thank God.]
As Kim stared at his glazed eyes and pleaded desperately for him to stay with her, he felt himself go.
It was much too soon for him to give up everything he had worked for, but the world continued to melt away from him.
With one last struggle for a breath that failed, he let himself be swallowed up by the welcoming darkness.
THE END
Okay... I've depressed myself writing this. But I had to get it out of my system. Comments and tissue boxes can be sent my way.
