Birthday fic for Monica.
Happy Birthday :]
Normally, I hate Ron/Hermione, because, well... I think Ron is awfully shallow and doesn't deserve Hermione. But then again, I'm sure you all could point out something bad about my favourite shippings.
This was her idea... I just wrote it. XD
It was the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament, and I, Ron Weasley, stood on edge, pleading with fate that Hermione would be okay. The Second Task; in which, they had taken each of the Champions most prized possessions down to the bottom of the Black Lake. It had been revealed that the "possessions" were people. People who were very important to the champions.
I was a little insulted Harry hadn't chosen me, really.
"Bloody hell, Hermione. Be alright." I stood amongst students as Harry dove further and further under the water, Krum, Diggory and Delacour behind him.
Neville beside me, sighed. "She'll be fine."
Dean nodded, clapping me on the back. "Promise you, mate. Krum's under there for her. She'll be fine."
"Krum? I thought Harry was getting her?" Seamus asked, his Irish accent thickly coating his words.
"No, it's Krum."
Their debate was drowned out by my worry for Hermione. Well, Harry, too, but mostly Hermione.
Yes, alright. I like Hermione. It's rather obvious, Ginny had told me.
"What happened to Ginny?" I interrupted Dean and Seamus.
"Dunno, mate. I saw her with Looney and then McGonagall took her away." Dean commented.
"Don't call her Looney, Dean. It isn't nice." Neville interjected.
"Ooh, like her, do you, Neville?"
"...No..."
The first heads popped out of the water.
Diggory and Chang.
I frowned, but continued watching the water for any signs of Hermione.
There was a growing ripple, and soon, a shark-like Krum and half choking Hermione appeared. I ran over to wear Krum was helping her swim across to.
"Hermione!" I grinned, wrapping a towel around her shoulders. She smiled up at me. I sat next to her. "Are you alright?"
"Yes. Soaking wet and freezing, but I'm fine, thanks."
I wrapped my arms around her, rubbing her arms so she'd be warm.
I was now watching the water for Harry. I heard chattering, and saw Hermione was covered in goosebumps.
I pulled her into my chest, and she sighed. "You're warm, Ron."
"You were under water for an hour, Hermione." I reminded her, gently moving loose, wet curls off her face.
"...Point..."
We waited another ten minutes, Hermione still in my arms, Dean and Seamus still teasing Neville that he liked Luna.
I then saw two familiar heads pop out of the water, and heard Dean yell out, furiously.
"Oi! What're you pulling, Harry? Getting Ginny put in the Lake!"
I still hate Ron...
Review!
Happy Birthday, Monica :D
