The universe was vast, a plane of darkness and sparse light, galaxies of neon colored dust splattered every now and again like sauce splats from an unruly child. It was far beautiful than anything Paul had ever seen and he was walking through it, admiring every nook and cranny that hid in the vast void.

Stars-with their angelic forms-danced and frolicked into deeper space, twirling in a circle caused by their gravity. The silk dresses of the females fluttered as the men, holding tightly to their partners, twirl them around in a celestial ballroom dance. They did not notice him; their eyes never left their partner's glowing white orbs that blended in on their pale flesh. So he walked on, watching them in awe and envy. He wished he had someone to love.

Continuing on, Paul found that not every dance partner was of the opposite gender. Men and women danced together, their smiles all the more brighter, their dancing a beautiful sight to behold as they span with joy and love. He walked through, expecting the same treatment as the others before, but every same gendered couple looked up at him and waved, smiling at him.

Paul would wave back as he walked and as soon as he was out of sight, the couples would go back as if nothing happened. And Paul did not mind, his feet kept him moving. He was like a shark, movement meant he would remain alive. But, past the stars, he found himself in darkness, a starless section in the void.

But he was not alone. His feet stopped and he remained in the void. Laughter bombarded him

Paul found the source with slight difficulty. It held a translucent shape consisting of stardust, it walked towards Paul, who had stopped in surprise. As it came closer Paul picked up more details. The stardust had tiny gaps, almost as if the true being had someone pour them onto it, thus giving it a light coating of light. Messy hair and a hat were on top of its head, a smile formed on its dusty lips. Two tiny dwarf stars made up its eyes.

"Hello, Paul." It said, sounding familiar.

It clicked in his head.

"Hello, Ash." Paul said. "What are you doing here?"

"Dance with me?" Ash offered his hand.

Paul took it and Ash lead them in the celestial ballroom dance. Their bodies stood still as their feet moved them in a binary circle. Though Paul could not tell, he felt as if they were falling.

"Allow it to happen." Ash said, whispering into his ear. "It'll be okay."

Paul relaxed, his journey was done. He had found what he was looking for and could now settle down in a patch of the universe that was his own.

The sun came upon them minutes later. Paul began to panic, but Ash leaned into his partner's body, his lips close to his ear. He whispered: "Relax, Paul. Let it happen. It won't hurt us."

Like divers into water, they made a splash as they descended within the star. It was a good warmth. A comforting, warm feeling grew from the pit of Paul's stomach and radiated outward, his body shining like the eyes of the stars. Ash's body began to fill up the cracks; spreading and becoming whole, his body made of bright light.

Slowly their faces inched towards each others, eyes closing, lips preparing for impact.
