FLAG has been working on a project to help fight crime. Bonnie Barstow was the head mechanic working diligently to ensure that the car and all its equipment were working properly. Devin Miles was working to find the perfect driver to drive the car. The founder of FLAG wanted a person that stood for justice and understood the law and who had no problems with working above the law to work for him.
Bonnie had run every computer simulation she could to ensure the car was functioning properly. She was now waiting to do live test runs to see if K.I.T.T was worth all the time and effort she has put into the project. Bonnie is waiting for the candidate to be selected so she can see KITT in action.
Devin Miles gathered a list of ten candidates. Candidates range from rookie to veteran officers. The areas that the officers would be selected from were based on crime stats and the records of the candidates. The areas chose were Burbank, Santa Barbara, Angel Beach, CA, Salem, OR, Forks, Port Angeles, and Seattle, WA, and Bay City, IL. The candidates were narrowing down quickly due to many of them refusing to participate and lack of knowledge of what they would doing since it was a secret government project.
Michael Long has been working for the police department for 18 years and undercover for two years now. Michael Long is a policeman working undercover, while investigating someone; he was shot and left for dead. But a millionaire, Wilton Knight finds him and saves him and gives him a new face and new name. He regains consciousness with the name of Michael Knight and a mysterious benefactor.
Devin received a call from Wilton telling him to call off his search that he had found the person whom would be working with them on the project. Devin stopped what he was doing and made his way to Wilton Knight's estate to meet the person who would be working with him and Bonnie. Once Devin arrived he found the candidate was Michael and that he had to recover from his injuries and it would take time to find out about his past.
Devin had called Bonnie to come over to his office to learn about the driver who would be driving KITT. After Bonnie arrived Devin was contacted by Wilton asking to be put on speaker so that he could give them details of what the project would require them to do and what parts they will be having in the project.
It seems that Wilton Knight wants to wage a war against criminals who operate above the law. And Michael is the man he has chosen to wage that war. He has created the ultimate car, the Knight Industries Two Thousand or KITT, which is laced with a virtually indestructible alloy, and is also capable of moving on its own and also talks. He gives the car to Michael, and Devin an associate of FLAG will be his contact and Bonnie will be the mechanic working with him.
