Dean never limited himself. He just took what he wanted, tried to make the best of his life. And of course he never hesitated to say what was on his mind. But sometimes someone just can't spit it out. There will always be a million reasons for this but none would really worth anything taken alone. And only after a long time of sorting and planning things out different ways Dean finally came up with a necessity of big talk. And so he went out in night and took a deep breath.
"Cas? I need to talk to you, it's important." He said, waited a little and started looking around.
"You called?" Cas appeared in a couple of steps in front of Dean.
"Yeah, I did" no complains about personal place, not when Cas is close enough to stare in his beautiful blue eyes. Those goddamn eyes. All plans crushed.
"So what is it, Dean? You said it is important." confusion on angel's face and maybe even bigger – on Dean's.
"Cas, life is short." that was the line Dean dismissed first. Damn it.
"That depends on…"
"No. Don't say anything right now, please." It is hard enough on its own to add any existential elements in here. "So… Yes. Life is short and hunter's life is even shorter. I mean, any of us can die any time soon and… I just felt like I have to do something important." Dean was mostly speaking to his hands but that was something.
"To do what, Dean?" not only confusion but also glimpse of hope and… fear in angel's eyes now.
"To make everything clear… between us, Cas." Dean finally stopped observing his hands and looked up at Cas. They both stood frightened of what's coming next.
"You are not going to disappear now, are you, Cas?"
"N-no, I hope not."
"Good." With a little relief Dean returned to his hands. "We've been through a lot together" the second dismissed line "and you've proven to be the most devoted friend I've ever had."
"I betrayed you. Not even once."
"Stop ruining lines, Cas! It's very hard to concentrate!"
"Sorry, I will be silent now."
"Thanks." another deep breath "There was no one like you in my life. You are very… special for me and I really appreciate your support, your help, your faith… If it wasn't for you, me and Sammy both would be dead for sure, maybe worse… And each time I lose you I'm starting to lose myself and…" Dean lacked of words. He started to search for them around but stopped, looking at Cas, at his goddamn blue eyes. Screw this. "I love you." and so silence fell upon. Not even a wind, just two of them standing across from each other. "Cas, you're there?" yep, Dean is capable of ruining moments.
"Yes I am. I just… I love you too." a little freshening breeze blew by and crickets started making noise again.
"And here we are, in love with each other, huh?" grin on Dean's face and that feeling you get when you did something you were aching to do warming his body.
"I guess…" happiness written all over Castiel's face and curiosity in his look. "So, what comes next?"
"Well, I do have certain ideas, but I'm not sure you will approve them right away."
"You can tell me. I'm all attention."
"You don't understand, what I'm talking about, do you?"
"No, not really, but I trust you"
Smiling at naive angel, Dean approached Cas, gently touched his cheek and kissed him upon his lips.
