AN: Okay, so this story is written by both of us (Hannah & Morgan, this particular part by Morgan), and its all about Torchwood in the present day, but where certain things never happened and some extra things did, and then a big blue box came along and made the timings in this story even more confusing :D Anyway, disclaimers: no one and nothing in this story is ours excluding the characters of Morgan, Olly, Grace, Seth and Ella. Now, enough of our rambling: read on, and enjoy the story. This is chapter 1 part 1 of the 'Torchwood: Alive And Better Than Ever' series. (Oh, and review...reviews make us happy people, and happy people means more stories :D).

When Everything Was 'Normal' - Chapter 1 part 1
So it was Friday afternoon (2009), and my brother Seth (aged 6 – almost 7), my sister Grace (aged 2 – almost 3), my brother Oliver (Olly, aged 12) and I (Morgan, aged 11) where sitting down stairs in the hub (where we live with our dad (Jack) and our Tad (Ianto)). We weren't doing anything; to be honest there wasn't anything to do. We were the only kids in the hub, well unless Gwen's niece Ella came to work with Gwen or our Uncle's kids were spending the day with us. Dad and Tad were up stairs talking about something that they didn't want us lot to hear, but every time they do that we always found out in the end what it was. We were bored as hell when dad and Tad came down.
"Hey what's with all the glum faces?" Tad asked picking Grace up.
Dad picked Seth up.
"We're bored." Grace explained.
"Bored? Hmmm well we'll soon fix that." dad said looking at Tad and smiling.
Tad smiled back. The four of us looked at them intrigued.
"Who wants to go to Little Angels in the shopping centre?" Tad asked, with a tone that excited Grace and Seth.
"Yeah!" the youngest two yelled.
"NO!" Olly and I said loudly.
Tad and dad turned round and looked at us. They gave us a look as to say 'come on guys please'.
"No." we said again.
"Please." Tad asked.
"No." we replied, stubbornly.
"If you go we'll give you £20 each." dad said.
"Done." Olly replied.
"No." I said.
"Well then you can stay behind and to paper work." dad said.
He knew I hated paper work.
"So Little Angels...sounds fun." I rushed with fake enthusiasm.
Olly laughed.
"Hey at least I didn't break at a money bribe. You're gunna be such a push over when you're older then." I told him.
Olly glared at me. Even though Olly and I got along well, we still had those odd moments when we wanted to hit the other. Five minutes later we were in the car and on our way to the shopping centre. The shopping centre was quite large. I never really went there though, because, well, I don't really like shopping. I'm not a girly girl; I'm more of a tomboy. There were loads of kids at Little Angels, and it was so noisy.
"Can I go look around and meet you back here later?" I asked.
"Why, aren't you having fun?" Tad asked.
"No. This is for really little kids." I replied.
"But Olly's having fun." dad said.
"That's because he is a really little kid." I explained.
"Ok, you can go. But meet us here before five." Tad said.
"Yay thanks." I said as I rushed off.
I was amazed that they actually let me go; they've never done anything like that before. I didn't know where I was going to go, so I called a few friends.
We got home at around five thirty. Grace and Seth were so tired from running around, that they fell asleep on Olly and I in the back of the car. When the car was parked, we walked back into the hub. Olly and I carried Seth and Grace into the hub and laid them gently on the sofa. It wasn't long before they woke up and where running around...again.
"Do those two ever lose energy?" dad laughed.
"No." I replied simply.
Dad and Tad laughed.
"So, £20 for me and M please." Olly said.
M was my nickname.
"It's M and I actually. God Olly use the right grammar." I laughed.
Olly shoved me, so I hit him. It ended with me pining Olly to the floor in eight seconds flat.
"Morgan get off of Olly." dad laughed.
Dad handed us both £20.
"Thanks." we told him.
Knowing Olly he would spend it all at once, I on the other hand put it away. I was saving up so when I found something I wanted I could buy it instead of waiting till my birthday or Christmas, or asking dad or Tad to get it for me, but I also saved up so I could buy presents for family and friends on their birthday's or anniversaries, etc. After a few more hours we went to bed.
The next day, when I woke up, I decided to draw something. I only drew Anime (or as some people call it, Manga). I thought it was a bit boring drawing without any music, so I grabbed my MP3 player. Scrolling through I found a song. It was one of my favourites and I played that one over and over. It's called Iris and it's by Goo Goo Dolls. I found the name of the band weird, but I loved the song. I didn't know what to draw so I just moved the pencil across the paper. In the end I drew dad, Tad, Olly, Seth, Grace, Gwen, Owen and Tosh, all standing in or sitting in the hub. I found it quite strange that I drew them but oh well.
When I was downstairs, Grace and Seth were raving to the song All Star. When the music stopped, they were facing me.
"What the hell?" I asked.
"We're dancing. Come dance with us." Seth replied.
"Yeah, come dance with us." Grace added.
"Ummm, ye...no." I replied.
Grace gave me her puppy dog look. It looked like the one dad gave Tad when he thought we weren't looking.
"Grace that face doesn't work with me, you should know that by now." I told her.
Grace stuck her tongue out at me, so I did the same. I sat down on the sofa, texting one of my friends. After a while, mine, Olly's, Seth and Grace's godmothers and our dad's friends, Gwen and, a pregnant, Tosh arrived.
"Hey." we all said.
"Where's Owen?" Tad asked.
"Probably running late, as per usual." I said.
I was right, because fifteen minutes later Owen (godfather) came running into the hub. Owen ran over to Tosh, they had been going out before dad and Tad had gotten married.
"Hey." he said breathless, kissing Tosh on the cheek. "Jack, I'm taking the day off, something's come up."
He started running back out the door.
"But..." dad didn't get to finish the sentence, as Owen had already ran out. "Bye."
"Well that was...um...strange." Tad said surprised.
I looked up from my phone.
"Hey remember, this is Owen we're talking about." I told them.
"And?" Tad asked a bit confused.
"Well it's Owen, he is strange, and you sounded surprised." I replied.
Tad smiled, and I went back to my phone.
