EMA'S SECRET

It had been a normal day at Hinata House. Most everyone was out and about, leaving the newest resident, Ema Maeda, by herself. She did some chores to help ease Kanako's workload (she couldn't help it; she thought Kanako was cute, and wanted to help her any way she could), did some reading, and played some Yume Nikki on her laptop. The others were still gone when she was done, so she decided to do something she hadn't done in a long time.

She went to her room, grabbed old books, dusty from lack of use, put on a simple black cloak, and walked outside to the open air bath. Once she arrived, she held a book open in her hand, and began casting a spell.

"Oh, holy light,

Make your way known.

To destroy the seeds

That evil has sewn.

IVALDI!"

A burst of light came from the pages, and a powerful wave of light, like from the heavens themselves, washed down over the area. It burst in pure energy, a near blinding light radiating from the epicenter.

As it dimmed down, Ema grabbed another book from her back. Like the last one, she held it open in her hand, and cast another spell.

"Mighty winds from way beyond

Slice the earth and sky.

Bring my foes down low

Make them weep and cry.

EXCALIBUR!"

Powerful winds began to blow from the book she held, forming blades of air that shot out in front of her, slicing to pieces near everything that stood before her. The stones, the trees-everything was struck down. As the winds died down, she took a deep breath and regained her ground. That spell was always the hardest one for her.

Once again, she put her current book back, and brought out another. And once again, she held it open in her hand, and began casting.

"Rain from hell

Monstrous might

Engulf my foe

In everlasting night.

GLEIPNIR!"

A dark energy formed around the open pages, and dark energy given the form of falling stones, began to rain all around. But before they hit the ground, they dissipated, evaporating into nothingness. Such was the skill she had over this spell-complete control to hit whatever she wanted, and avoid whatever she wished. The dark mist died down and the rain from hell ceased. She took a look around, and saw what a mess she had done.

She took out a staff, and once again, began casting a spell.

"Healing light

Guide the way

Let it be known

A better day

LATONA!"

The light from the staff engulfed everything, and everything was fixed. The rocks were no longer shattered. The trees were no longer splinters. Pleased with her work, Ema turned around to go back inside. But when she did…

"What the..?" It was Su, who stared at the young archsage in pure awe. Never before had she seen such power from something that didn't explode (she should know about explosions).

Ema just stood motionless, afraid of what would be if this was known…
