Prompts : glitter, bound, broken

You hear her w/i/n/d/c/h/i/m/e laugh long after she's gone.

Her scent still lingers on your skin, your pillow

the sweater she stole six months ago and just got around to giving back.

She smells of eucalyptus and earl grey tea

and places that aren't here.

But here is all you've known

and right now you can't even see;

the glitter in her smile has left

(s)(p)(o)(t)(s)

before your eyes

and it will be weeks before they're gone.

In fact, it might be just enough time before she comes back around.

She always does.

But Lily is too flighty of a bird to stay in one place for long

and you'd like to think that she thinks of you as Home

and that's the reason why you stay,

when really, the part of you that isn't fooling yourself,

the part of you that isn't star struck and speechless

or blinded by white teeth /against/ your

too-dark-to-be-a-Weasley skin

knows that you are just a constant,

just a Plan B,

just someone she can fall back on

because falling is the only thing she's good at lately.

And fixing broken things is your field of expertise, isn't it, Roxy?

Always picking up p|i|e|c|e|s and

healing hearts of glass with a bit of spellotape

and kisses on freckled foreheads

and letting fingers wander where they're not supposed to

because people pleasing means giving giving giving

and let's not be selfish, dear.

So you fix her broken wings,

let her fly to wherever the wind or whimsy takes her

because she's bound to come back

(eventually)

while you count the spots before your eyes,

play connect the d.o.t.s. and

create a map on the inside of your eyelids of all the places

that you haven't seen,

imagining your constant flying free

without a care in the world

and wondering

what that must feel like.
