Author's Note: This is the first of my Open On Sunday drabbles from over on LiveJournal. I will be posting all of my drabbles in this same story just different chapters.

Prompt: Challenge 67 "The '80s"

Date Written: July 6, 2004

Timeline: This is obviously pre-series and I probably screwed around with the timelines a bit but went with Buffy and Dawn being born in 1981 and 1984 respectfully.

Side note: According to Vault Disney Cinderella and Bambi were re-released to theatres in 1987 and 1988 respectfully so it sorta worked, and I don't know if any theatres still do summer movie camp but I remember one around here doing that several years ago. This is unbetaed so all mistakes are mine. Buffy, Dawn, and Joyce Summers all belong to Joss Whedon and assorted others. Bambi and Cinderella both belong to the people at Disney.

Dawn remembers

Part One

Dawn remembers watching Cinderella last year when it was re-released in theatres, as she waits impatiently for the ticket teller to give Buffy their tickets and change. Although she'd seen Bambi on videotape several times before, she'd been excited for this week of summer movie camp. They headed to the refreshment counter with their special camp coupons to retrieve their free kid's popcorn and pop. Being so early in the day few people were there except those for movie camp. It would let out well before sunset, which is why Joyce thought it was okay to let them go alone.

Part Two

Dawn felt very grown up. She was going to start preschool that fall and her mother was allowing her to go to the movies alone with her sister. At the thought of school Dawn smiled happily, she couldn't wait to learn to read and write. Unlike Buffy, Dawn liked the thought of going to school. As the movie began she became engrossed in watching the escapades of Thumper and Bambi and mouthing the words along to some parts, "but they sure are awful stuff to eat". She grins as Thumper says that line, one of her favorites in the movie.

>>>>>There was going to be at least one more but real life interrupted and now I don't remember what I was gonna do with this drabble. G'nite all!
