Author's Note: I don't even really like this. I wrote it ages ago, just after the first episode of Season 2. I was bored and felt like posting something. I'm not even expecting to get any reviews for this (not that I wouldn't welcome every single review and reviewer!!) because all this is, is a piece of writing describing how Nick is feeling, and all the Nick/Claudia shippers already know what he's feeling! Wow that's a long author's note and wow do I sound depressed (I'm not)…well, enjoy if you want.
Not Her
He turned around and his eyes widened in shock. There she stood. Claudia Brown. Lester and the others had continued to tell him that they'd never heard of her, yet here she was.
Unconsciously he allowed his eyes to wander over her body. Down, past her chest, showing a lot more cleavage than Claudia normally did, to her long shapely legs to the red stilettos she wore. When Nick managed to drag his eyes back up to her face, he noticed how much make-up the woman in front of him was currently wearing. Again, not like the Claudia he knew. And her hair. Claudia's gorgeous auburn hair was now dark. Inwardly Nick cringed. She was still beautiful but completely not her.
"Claudia Brown." He finally managed to speak.
"I think you have me mistaken for someone else. My name's Jenny. Jenny Lewis."
Nick's hope at having found Claudia was suddenly shattered. She looked like Claudia, apart from the obvious differences. She sounded like Claudia, except that when she spoke Nick realised her voice lacked the kind, gentleness that he had come to associate with the civil servant. But this was not 'his' Claudia. Not that she was ever his to begin with. Nick sighed.
He knew it was utterly stupid of him, but he felt like crying. Just breaking down in front of everyone around him, proving that he had finally 'lost it'. Nick knew that he'd never really shown much interest in Claudia for the first few months of knowing her, despite finding her attractive and great company, but he'd still being obsessing over Helen at that time. That soon changed, however, in the weeks leading up to the future creature incident.
Nick had first realised his attraction to the woman could be transforming into something more when he had made the split decision to kiss her in the golfing hotel. And then when she'd kissed him before he'd gone looking for the future anomaly, he knew he was falling in love with her. Hell, even Helen knew it.
But now? Now he'd come to that conclusion, Claudia had been erased from the time line to be replaced with 'Jenny'. Nick broke from his reverie and looked into Jenny's eyes. Seeing none of the affection he was used to seeing in those light brown eyes, Nick spun around and left, leaving a confused Jenny Lewis and team behind him.

This could actually be considered a long drabble...I don't write drabbles...hmm, well review!
