Just because Deidara does it, and Itachi does it, doesn't mean he has to do it.

Hidan pokes the withering fire with a stick. He enjoys the way the flames dance in front of his eyes, and since he knows Kakuzu is asleep, he won't get teased for staring at the fire like an idiot.

Just because Deidara, and Itachi, have a relationship with their partners, doesn't mean he has to.

He and Kakuzu are only colleagues. That's all. They work together, and they don't let each other get killed. (Well, that's the way he thought about it. He wouldn't let Kakuzu die, but would Kakuzu let him die?) The question weighs down his mouth even more and he sniffs a little.

Just because Deidara, and Itachi, love their partners, doesn't mean he has to.

He doesn't need shit like that in his life. He can go without love, he's been doing it for 20 years, he can do it forever. And he can't even say he'd be doing it for physical pleasure, either. Hidan was hot. He could go out and fuck any boy he wanted, they were all over him. Who said it had to be a guy, anyway? Maybe Hidan was straight. Maybe he wanted to fuck a girl.

Shaking his head, he tosses his stick in the fire and picks up a random one off the ground. Who the hell is he kidding? The whole Akatsuki knew that him, Deidara, and Itachi liked it up the ass. It was also no secret that pretty much all the other members liked giving it up the ass.

And besides, with Kakuzu, Hidan would be getting it up the ass.

Where the hell did that come from? he asks himself. He needs something to keep his mind off this shit. There's a town nearby, he knows. Kakuzu could spare a few fucking dollars for him. He casts a glance towards the tent Kakuzu is asleep in. Nevermind. Probably sleeps with his wallet in his pants, the money-whore... literally.

Heh. Hidan laughs to himself for a minute, then shakes his head again. Dousing the fire and getting up from his spot in the dirt, Hidan slides into his own tent. He pitched it right next to Kakuzu's for a reason.

Just because Deidara and Itachi love their partners, doesn't mean he has to, he tells himself again.

All he needed was a good excuse, and then he could.

But until then, he didn't.
