"So, how do I look?" the Colonel asked , turning towards the door where his favorite Lieutenant was watching him with bright eyes.
Face looked gorgeous in his dress uniform and the older man couldn't suppress a sigh at the thought of how differently he would have liked to spend his Birthday than going to the damn party organized by the General.
They were state-sided in Fort Benning, but General Morrison had organized for the party to take place in a five stars hotel in Columbus. All the Generals and Hannibal's superior officers were invited along with a selected number of Lieutenants and Captains from various divisions and minor officers, and the Colonel's team, of course.
The party was set up to celebrate the Colonel's birthday, who was an old friend but also Morrison's sharp point.
Hannibal didn't like parties and he would had refused to go if Face hadn't insisted on the contrary.
"Come on Boss, you only have to be nice, drink white wine and talk to people" he offered to the Colonel, who didn't look convinced at all.
"I don't understand why to make such a fuss about my birthday, who cares anyway?" the older man replied, puffing a blue cloud of smoke in front of him.
Face put on his best "lost puppy" mask and looked at his lover in the eyes. "Me" he answered simply.
It worked; Hannibal felt guilty for not having thought of Face and his feelings, even if he wasn't referring to him actually.
Now, in front of the mirror with Face looking at him in that way, all Hannibal could think about was to make love to his lover and kiss him deeply and desperately. When the Colonel made a move to do it, though, Face hold back.
"Not now, we're going to be late and you wouldn't want to ruin your dress uniform" the Lieutenant stated.
Hannibal snorted. "Can I see you later?" he asked and the huskiness of his voice made Face shiver.
He reached inside the pocket of his dress uniform to touch the small velvet box he was hiding in there and smiled at his lover, dreaming of the time when he would have wished him his personal Happy Birthday to the Colonel.
