So now, it was all over. He had defeated Sephiroth and Holy was free to tackle Meteor. Everything was going to be okay. His mission was complete and the world was going to be saved. Everything was going to be okay.
So why did he feel so empty and unfulfilled. Why after defeating the Planet's most powerful man and saving the world did he feel more like a loser than a hero? Why did he not feel complete?
Cloud gave a long, tired sigh. He knew exactly why he was feeling the way he was. It was because Aeris was not here with them. She was not here to celebrate the Planet's second chance and instead had to watch them from afar. In his opinion, the picture just was not complete without her. She should have been by his side, cheering as Holy crashed into Meteor but she was not.
And Holy failed anyway. In the end, though, Aeris completed the task she set out to do. She called upon the life stream to aid Holy and shrink the meteor, getting rid of the threat completely. Her mission had been completed.
But to the members of Avalanche, there was a dark cloud looming over their celebrations. Without the cheerful flower girl, it was not complete because Cloud just wouldn't celebrate. Instead, he just locked himself in his room and refused to talk to anyone. Without Aeris, his whole life was empty.
His friends left him to it, knowing words from them would never be heard anyway. They knew the only one he had ever listened to had been Aeris but she was not here anymore. Things would never be complete again.
