I'm Low on Gas and You Need a Jacket
Chapter One:
Empty Mattresses and Falling Stars
"Darling it's awfully cold. Take my jacket."
"But you have to go out there and put gas in the truck."
"You forgot that the heater isn't properly working right now."
"….stupid sudden snow storm…"
"Besides, as I move around I will be warm. Plus I don't get cold easly my dear." Said a red head with an amused chuckle. He looked over at the passenger seat to see his girlfriend of seven years. Beautiful aquamarine eyes stared back into his own emerald. He smiled as she gave a frustrated huff as she gave in and took the offered thick fleece zip-up. He knew her to well.
"get me a coffee when you go in to pay for the gas." She said as she took the gloves he also offered.
"let me guess…a hot vanilla bean coffee with no whip cream and three sugar packets, a.k.a Kagome's regular." he said with another small chuckle.
"you know me too well Kurama." She said with a smile as she gave him a peck on the cheek before he got out to fill the gas tank.
"Yes I do my dear."
When Kurama came in the truck, he gave Kagome a quick kiss and gave her coffee to her.
"Thanks hun. I really needed this."
"Anytime my dear."
The remainder of the drive home was quite, until Kagome accidently burned her tongue.
"Shit!"
"Careful dear."
"Could have warned me it was still tongue burning hot with those super senses of yours ya know…" grumbled an annoyed Kagome.
Everything was dark as yet another memory ended. Kurama woke up and looked out the window, still dark out, then looked to the other side of the mattress.
Empty.
Cold.
It had been like that for almost two full years. Kurama sat up as he could feel tears start to prick the corner of his eyes. As he quietly cried, a falling star shot passed.
Kurama walked down a white hallway in the hospital with a blue rose in his hand, to a room with a little paper heart tapped to the number.
He opened the door to find his best friend asleep in a chair next to a small raven haired figure in the hospital bed.
He smiled sadly and walked in.
