The sound of Riley's alarm alerted her of yet another day of school. A day, for which she was certain, could not get any worse. Riley quickly washed up, dressed and grabbed a cereal bar to go, almost forgetting her backpack. Tucking her long, brown hair behind her ears, Riley put in her ear-buds, Coldplay's "The Scientist" drowned out the world she was living her, taking her away for those 5:09. Music was something Riley connected to; the lyrics, she found meaning in. The bus ride to school was filled with Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. Riley was in her own little world, a world she felt most comfortable in.

Walking off the bus, Riley's best friend, Rachel, spotted her, running towards her for morning gossip. Rachel, much like Riley, was more quiet and reserved, but when they were together they couldn't keep their mouths shut. On the top of Rachel's morning gossip was the lacrosse game. Beacon Hills won last night, by one goal, and it was the talk of the school that morning. While Riley did not play any sports herself, she did have one reason for the lacrosse game to be of interest to her. And that reason was Stiles. Her crush. An athlete. The school clown.

Stiles is not your average jock. In fact, he isn't really a jock at all. Of average height, and being lean and clumsy, Stiles playing time on the field is limited, but last night his time came. And it was his night to shine! He scored twice, leading his team to victory.

Riley had to make a pit stop at her locker before class. Looking at the clock and seeing that it was 5 minutes till 8 she booked it, not paying any attention to those around her, she found herself crashing into a boy in front of her, landing her on the floor with all her books spread across the floor. "I'm sorry" Riley shyly said to the boys back. Turning around now, Riley saw whom she had bumped into. "No worries" Stiles told Riley. Riley was bright red now. Stiles reached down and handed Riley two of her books, smiling. A quiet "thanks" was all Riley could say. "Next time, I'll be the one to fall flat on my back, and I'll probably be carrying an entire pizza!" Stiles started laughing as he said this. The entire time, Riley's eyes had been locked on the floor, she wasn't brave enough to look at him, but at this instance she looked at his wide, easy grim and she too smiled and laughed along with him. Stiles reached his hand out and helped Riley to her feet. "My names Stiles by the way, I didn't catch yours?" "Riley" "Riley, I am sure I will see you around then" Keeping his same grim as he turned around to walk to his first period class.

Riley was stunned. Did that really just happen to me? Realizing she had one minute till class, she figured she could just share Rachel's textbook, which would also give her the chance to spill the details on her morning clumsiness! Maybe this day won't suck as bad as I thought it would.
