A birthday gift for TheDerpychemist! Happy Birthday my friend 3
Most people wouldn't drive four hundred kilometers just to see a sibling, even if it was there birthday. Most people would just send a text message or call them.
But most people couldn't fly at newly marked six hundred kilometers an hour, shoot beams of raw energy from their hands, or electrocuted half to death at the tender age of fourteen either
Jazz Fenton, Danny's favorite (And only) sister, was turning twenty five that crisp winter day. Danny cut his morning classes at the nearby collage just to see her. As he flew, no more then a dark streak between the clouds, he inhaled the sweet-smelling air. The cold soaked through his skintight suit, but it felt refreshing rather then uncomfortable. Like jumping into a body of cool water on a hot summer's day.
The present tucked under his arm was rather wind-battered and slightly damp from flying into clouds. The ribbon had long since fluttered away. ("It made the present look cheesy anyway," Danny told himself, not completely convinced.)
Finally spotting the familiar campus, he swooped down, turning invisible before any early bird students saw him. He wasn't sure how a couple of nerds will react to seeing a ghost on their campus, especially the mysterious Danny Phantom holding a wrapped box.
After a few minutes of searching (And seeing a bit to much of Jazz's neighbors then he wanted) he found Jazz completely by accident, eating cereal with a huge textbook open on her lap, a cat curled around her ankles. Trying to figure out a way to show himself without scaring her, he decided to screw it and popped into existence two inches from her face, floating upside down.
"Ah!" Jazz yelped, jolting away from the table. The cat somehow ended up on the other side of the kitchen, tail puffed, hissing at Danny.
"Happy birthday Jazz!"
"Danny, you almost gave me a heart attack!" Jazz gasped, playfully scowling at her brother. But a tell-tale gleam in her eyes said that she found that funny. "And you scared Phantom too. Just look at him!"
"I was about to ask. When did you get a cat? And why exactly did you name it after me?"
Phantom had jumped onto a counter top and was batting at Danny's ghost-like tail, all fear diminished. When his paw went right through Danny, he meowed angry and launched himself at the tail, falling through and landing under the table. Jazz let out a soft coo and Danny smirked. "Scaredy-cat."
"He was a birthday present to myself. Isn't he adorable?" Jazz picked up the cat and tried to hand him to Danny. Phantom hissed, tail puffed up and ears flat on his head.
"Yes, he's freaking adorable." Danny remarked sarcastically. "My present might be a little bit better, though."
Jazz spotted the wind-battered box tucked under Danny's arm. "Oh Danny, you didn't have to get me anything."
Danny rolled his eyes, his lips sharpening into a grin. "But that would be incredibly rude if I didn't. So," he held out the parcel. "Happy birthday Jazz."
