Tired and exhausted, Jax was glad to finally be home. Home to his girls.
He kicked his sneakers off at the door and headed for his bedroom. He stopped in the hallway and nudged the slightly ajar door further open to check on his daughter Hannah, who looked every bit like her mother with the exception of inheriting a few Teller features. He noticed her slightly shivering and grabbed the blanket at the foot of her bed to cover her, moving her hair out of her face and placed a kiss on her forehead as he finished pulling the covers up over her shoulders.
He then stopped at the second bedroom, illuminated with specks of revolving lights in the shape of a crown. A crown for his princess, his youngest daughter Harriet - named after his best friend. She was practically identical to her big sister, only inheriting her father's blue eyes. Satisfied that she was safe and soundly asleep like her older sister, Jax tip-toed out of Harriet's room, closing her door quietly behind himself.
He finally got to his bedroom and opened the door. 15 years of marriage and she still managed to take his breath away, Jax thought as he briefly watched his wife Leah sleep. Jax started to feel a little guilty when he seen that she had fallen asleep sitting upright, book sitting on her protruding bump. She had been waiting for him to get home and exhaustion had clearly gotten the better of her.
He moved the book out of the way as he maneuvered Leah to lay down properly, only to wake her
"Jax?" Leah said half asleep
"Hey babe" Jax said as he moved in behind her. His hand coming to rest on her stomach.
"You just get in?" Leah asked as she sat up against the headboard. Jax sat down on his side of the bed and begun unlacing his white sneakers
"Yeah. How's things been here?" Jax asked as he kicked his shoes off
"Great. Me, Han and Harrie dragged the old man out for lunch yesterday. I swear our girls have him wrapped around their little fingers" Leah said as she absent-mindly ran her hand over her stomach.
"And how's the baby been?" Jax asked as he also placed his hand on Leah's baby bump.
"He has been kicking up storm from the moment you left and only stopped now because I'm pretty sure he is asleep" Leah said looking at Jax with a smile, waiting for the realisation of what she had said to kick in.
"He?" Jax questioned making sure he heard Leah right.
"Yeah, it's a boy. Hannah was in there with me when we found out. She wanted to text you straight away. I had to bribe her with $50 bucks to not say anything. I got this" Leah handed Jax a sonogram of their son, knowing it would be folded and joining the old and worn-out one's Jax carried in his wallet of Hannah and Harriet. Proof that Jax adored his children before they even took their first breaths.
"That's my girl. What are we going to name him?" Jax asked with a hint of pride for Hannah.
"I like Abel. Abel Thomas" Leah answered.
Jax shifted down the bed until he was eye level with Leah's baby bump.
"What are you doing?" Leah giggled.
"Talking to my son".
