Like Father, Like Daughter

I do not own The Avengers in any way.

Sneaking into Stark tower was surprisingly easy with the defenses being down due to the damage from the Battle of Manhattan.

One simple virus and the security camera's went dark.

She even managed to disable JARVIS.

Stark was sitting in his den drinking a Scotch.

She knocked an arrow in her bow and crept up behind him.

Stark, who knew she was behind him, did nothing. "I was wondering how long it would take for something like this to happen", Stark said.

"Is that all you have to say?" she snapped at him.

He stood up and turned to face her. "Carolyn?" he breathed.

The girl's hand shook. She pressed her arrow into Stark's neck. "How do you know my mother's name?" she growled.

"You're not going to shoot me", Stark said.

"And how do you know that?" she asked him. She heard the sounds of two guns cocking. "I'll do it! I swear to you I will!" she insisted.

"If you were, you would've done it already", Stark said. He grabbed her wrist.

She felt a spark go up her arm and she dropped her bow. She pulled her arm away and stared at it.

What the hell was that?

Natasha and Clint still had their guns pointed at her.

"Don't shoot her", Stark said.

"How do you know my mother?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

"Your mother's name is Carolyn Holland. When she was 29, she went to one my father's EXPO's", he told her.

"She said she met my father at…"

Tony watched as the blood drained from her face.

"No. No", she said. She felt like her world was crashing down around her.

But he was the reason she was dead in the first place!

She was once again filled with fury as she reached for her bow.

Clint grabbed her.

She struggled against him. "She's dead, because of you!" she yelled at Tony, "They came looking for you and killed her instead!"

"Who?" Tony said stepping closer to her.

"How should I know?! I was too busy trying to save my mother!" she snapped, "Let go of me!" She slammed her foot down onto Clint's.

He cried out and let go of her.

She rounded on him and broke his nose. "I told you to let me go, asshole", she said as Clint held his nose.

"Thanks for helping, Tash", Clint said.

"Well she's definitely your kid, Stark", Natasha said.

"What's your name?" Tony asked.

"Sophie Maria Holland", she said.

"Maria?" Tony asked.

"Yeah. Why?" Sophie asked.

"That was my mother's name", Tony said.

"Well then my mother must have loved you very much", Sophie said.

"So you never knew Stark was your father?" Natasha asked her.

"She never mentioned my father", Sophie told her.

"It's amazing you've made it this far. Now would you mind bringing JARVIS back up?" Tony asked her.

She went over to Tony's computer screens and typed in a few lines of code.

"Ah. It's so good to be back", a British voice said.

"Sorry about that", Sophie said.

"I've never been shut down before", JARVIS said.

"Where did you learn to do that?" Tony asked her.

Sophie shrugged and said, "I kinda taught myself. I got bored one day and started fooling around".

"And how have you've been flying under S.H.E.I.L.D.'s radar?" Clint asked.

"I never did anything illegal", Sophie said, "I used my skills to help people. So I guess you could say I only back-doored my way into other people's computers to help them".

"Using your powers for good, not evil. Sounds familiar", Natasha said looking at Tony.

"I'm sorry about your mother", Tony said.

"Thank you", Sophie said.

"Where will you go now?" Clint asked her.

"I dunno. I didn't think that far ahead", Sophie told him.

"Again, sounds familiar", Natasha said.

"Well, you know what they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree", Tony said, "If you'd like, you can stay here with us".

"Really?" Sophie asked, "Even after I tried to kill you?"

"Wouldn't be the first time it's happened", Tony said.

It turned out that saying was true.

Like father, like daughter.
