Ch.1

Katara POV

As we stared at the majestic sunset on the balcony of the fire nation palace, I saw Aang's eyes gaze from me to the world standing before us.

"What's wrong?" I asked him.

"Nothing's wrong," he said, gazing at Zuko who I just noticed was standing behind us.

"Sorry to interrupt, but can I talk to Aang for a minute?" he said, motioning me to leave.

"Sure" I answered, staring at Aang from the corner of my eye as I walked off the balcony.

As I walked inside I caught a glimpse of Sokka picking his toes with his boomerang. "Did you know this thing comes back to you and is even great for picking your toes?" He said.

"You are the most disgusting person I know" I replied, trying to cover my nose from the horrible stench coming from his feet. "Have you seen Toph Lately?" I asked him.

"Yah she's around here somewhere, probably bossing some fire nation slaves around or something."

"Thanks," I whispered, leaving Sokka alone with his toys.

As I exited, I heard Aang come in from the balcony with Zuko. Small parts of the conversation could be heard, but only parts such as, "Are you sure?" And, "Should we do something?"

From hearing those words I rushed back into the room where Aang and Zuko were discussing their matters. I was greeted with blank stares.

"What's wrong? "I asked.

"My sister escaped!" Zuko answered with a frown.

"How could this happen? " I pondered.

"We don't know." He exclaimed, turning to Aang.

"If I could defeat your father, I can surely defeat Azula "Aang persisted. "Be careful Aang, you know she's tricky and remember what happened in Bah Sing Sai. I don't want to go through that again." My heart hurt for him. "I don't want to lose you." Tears entered my eyes for the first time in months.

"I'll be okay Katara, trust me." Moving closer to me. "I promise" His arms wrapped around me, giving me a hug.

A moment later, his arms fell and I watched him approach the door. "Where are you going?" I wondered.

"I'm going to find Appa. We're going to scale the fire nation to see how far Azula might have gotten" he answered with a sort of glum look as he left the room.

"Wait! You're not going without me!" I ran down the hall to catch up with him. "You're going to need my help."

"So, I guess I'm coming since there's no answer." I smiled, eyeing his expression.

"I guess so." He laughed.

"I'll go get Sokka and Zuko!" Toph said from behind us.

"Well I guess it's like old times again, except Zuko isn't trying to capture me anymore" Aang chuckled as we walked to get Appa.

Aang POV

"Come on Appa, just a little farther" I grumbled as we reached the border of the fire nation to wait for Azula in the morning.

"Finally! Land!" Sokka yelled, kissing the ground. He grabbed his sleeping bag and collapsed in the dirt.

"Well, I guess we'll have to wait till morning to continue our search." Zuko sighed.

"Sounds good, I need some rest." Katara yawned, propping up the tent.

"I think your right." I huffed.

"Okay Aang. You and Katara will share a tent and Sokka and I will share the other." Zuko groaned. He hated the thought of having to put up with Sokka's constant snoring, let alone his sleep walking.

"Nah, I prefer nice soft dirt to sleep in." Sokka replied, curling up in a ball on the ground.

"Okay then?" Zuko sighed with relief and went into his tent.

As I entered the tent, I found Katara already lying down on her side. "Are you okay?" I asked.

"I'm fine." she answered.

As I lay down, I noticed a tear dripping down her cheek.

"Alright something's wrong!" My arms crossed with frustration.

"It's just that I'm afraid of losing you!" She cried, sitting up and facing me.

"I'll be alright." I answered kind of hoping it was the truth.
