Nice to meet you! I'm Tami (otherwise known as Tammy). Welcome to my very first fanfic! It's actually a ballad that I wrote for a school assignment, but I just wanted to know what you guys think! Please R&R! Thanks! Compliments and constructive criticism welcome.
Oh, yeah, disclaimers and stuff! I do not own Full Moon wo Sagashite. Arina Tanemura does. Although this ballad is mine, I borrowed some of the plot from Full Moon. I'm sorry Tanemura-sensei!
Searching for the Full Moon
It was unusually dark on my stroll through the park
And the air was gloomier than it was at noon;
The source of it was a girl, her hair full of gorgeous curls
Searching for the beautiful full moon.
It seemed a bit queer, so I asked, "Why are you here?"
And she answered, to my surprise:
"I'm waiting for my love, a boy as gentle as a dove;
He promised to come before sunrise."
She leaned back and continued, in a more grief-stricken mood:
"The orphanage was where we first met.
It might sound absurd, but after a few words,
We became fast friends from the onset.
"We looked out for each other; he was like an older brother.
He made me feel so strong.
But suddenly one day, in the merry month of May
Something went terribly wrong.
"He said that he loved me, a love deeper than the sea;
And I didn't know what to do.
A kiss landed on my cheek; I was too surprised to speak
Because his message still didn't come through.
"The very next day, as I went out to play
I found out that he was being adopted.
I cried and cried, yet I couldn't even say goodbye;
And inside, my heart ceaselessly bled.
"Right before he left, he came to me, quick and deft
And whispered right in my ear:
'I'll search for the full moon and I'll find you soon.
So I'll come back before sunrise, you hear?'
"Then he was gone, and long before dawn
Realization finally struck me.
I realized that I loved him (no, it was not a whim),
And I tried to call him, you see.
"Fate decided to be cruel; and boy, was I a fool.
I eavesdropped and heard some terrible news.
His plane had crashed, and everything was trashed.
'No one survived,' said the rescue crew.
"I was numb. I felt dumb.
How could this have happened?
It couldn't be true! What was I to do?
I had lost my only friend.
"So I decided, even if I was chided
To search for the full moon.
I had run away, I didn't want to stay
Because I wanted to find him soon.
"So here I am, once again
Eternally waiting for that boy.
I don't care if I die, because I don't want to say goodbye
To the one person who gave me joy."
And with that, she slumped back;
Her weary, heartbroken eyes closed tight.
She stopped breathing, and I felt my eyes sting
Because she lay dead in the middle of the night.
It was ghostly dark as I ran out of the park
I had to get out of there soon;
Because I saw a girl, her hair complete with curls
Die while searching for the full moon.
A/N: If you're wondering why the first and last lines of this ballad are in italics, well, it's to show the refrain. 'Cuz without the refrain, it wouldn't be a ballad! xD
