Sorry If it's not what you wanted, and for the fact that it is choppy and has a bad ending
Dedicated to smz12231994 because she is awesome and gave me the idea
Truthfully, I'm Crazy
They called him crazy.
Gaara had to carry the burden of the whole village inside him, yet they all treated him as if it was really, truly, inevitably his fault.
Gaara killed not because he wanted to, but only because the demon drove him to. Gaara, who has been in his right mind his whole life, and will be to the end, was being penalized for something he couldn't control. He didn't like to kill anything, and it tore him up inside, watching everyone die.
It was only the demon that got the enjoyment out of slaughter, but no one knew, because he couldn't tell them. It was as if there was some unspoken rule that forbid him from sharing his secret.
Gaara was a prisoner in his own body, unlike Naruto who seemed to not be bothered by his curse, only aided by it.
At least people weren't afraid of Naruto. He got glares and threats when he was young.
Gaara got nothing. No one would speak two words to him. The only people that could bare to talk to him were his (stupid, traitor) uncle and his (useless, weak) siblings, but that was hardly at all.
As Naruto got older, more people started acknowledging him. He made a lot of friends, but still, Gaara was off in the distance. He was alone, and people still didn't know his secret.
And then they met face to face. They both like to think it was for the last time, because really, in a weird sort of way, it was. It was the last time that Gaara would look upon someone and say that they were only to prove his existence. The last time that he would attempt kill just because. The last time that his Demon got out. Ever.
And then Gaara made a friend. And the another, and another until he too, had at least half as many friends as Naruto. He still couldn't share his secret, but he didn't really mind, because no one needed to know.
People still called him crazy, but now, not so many as before. So, he tried hard in everything he did, even though only a sparse group of others seemed to notice, much less care.
So through triumph and toil, Gaara became the Kazekage, and those close to him seemed to understand him better than they ever had. And they still didn't really know him.
Still, a small group of people called him crazy. Gaara liked things to be truthful, and as long as that little group was still there, truth would be too. For those people were right, Gaara was and is still crazy.
He hides his biggest secret, but he thinks one day he might be able to tell it.
