John, Rodney, Ronon and Teyla stepped through the stargate to encounter P4C-681. It seemed to have a wraith dart nearby, according to the readouts from the MALP. They were expecting immediate confrontation. Even possibly a hive ship.

When the immediate area was clear, John silently signalled for everyone to follow him. His team had come to expect these silly motions, even though everyone knew exactly what to do. Still, they allowed him his indulgence to believe he was in control. They took a defensive stance in a semi-circle to cover any possible wraith attacks.

In the distance, a large river could be seen, though no signs of civilization were present. The tree line surrounding the area was highly dense with undergrowth, making it difficult to see into the distance. They headed towards the river in hopes of some discovery.

"Ronon, Teyla, have you seen this place before?" John asked, to get his customary background intel out of them.

"Nope," Ronon said with a smirk at Teyla.

"I have not either. There does not seem to be any people nearby," Teyla said.

"Why would a wraith dart come to an uninhabited world? It doesn't make much sense. There's something wrong here and I don't like it," Rodney said in a mumble of speech.

"You don't sense any wraith nearby, Teyla?" John asked.

"No, I can sense nothing here," she said.

"It'll be okay, Rodney. We are just gonna find out why the dart was here, if it's gone," John said. "McKay, you're with me. Ronon and Teyla head northeast from here. We'll check in every few hours to stay in radio contact. Let's head out."

"Um, John, how are we gonna get acrost that river? You know I could get phenomia or die from hyperthermia. Or what about alien sharks? We really shouldn't cross that river, I don't think." Mckay said.

"Shut up, Rodney. We'll get acrost just fine," John said, rolling his eyes.

"Okay, but I really don't like--"

"Rodney!"

Ronon looked at Teyla in anticipation of their arduous trek. It would be a long day, but good. He liked to have something to do instead of just sitting around. It made him feel better about being in Atlantis, like he was earning his keep.

"Shall we get started?" Teyla said in a melodic voice.

"Lead the way," he said.
