Joker's Ace

Thunder threw its vociferous roar across the realm. The antediluvian forest of copper and ash quaked. The branches clutched at the ashen earth. Their claws dug deep into its roots.

Lightning erupted. It's incandescent glow set the ruinous castle ablaze. The towering turrets shivered and tiles leapt from their place in surprise. The shadows were only too willing to swallow them up.

On such a harrowed, haunting night an escaped slave found incarceration once more. The slow trickling of tainted water echoed proudly. Its martyred burbling howled with vicious glee. The filthy waters rose to caress her calloused skin. The bruises, sores and bleeding blossomed beneath the onslaught of a decripitude of grime.

To her fortuity the shadows stole away and an umbrous silhouette arose. The dark orbs gazed down sternly. They were eyes without mercy. No kindness knew them. No kindness dared to touch them.

Author's Note: A common thing to hear is 'I've had a baby'. I think I've had a thesaurus. Though, believe it or not I actually knew most of them myself. I therefore do not guarantee their accuracy. I especially do not guarantee their accuracy as I typed this on my i-Pod that has a lovely tendency to try and make words up...

Ah~ I really have to stop saying 'I'll do a one shot'. I'm too tired to do more right now. Oh well, I'll work on the rest later. Now, to something else that time will likely prove untrue, 'this will be a mini series with only three or so more chapters'.

Thank you so much for reading my story. I'm so happy that you gave my work a chance. I do sincerely hope that you have enjoyed reading this chapter. I apologise if I have failed your expectations.
