A/N. I really don't know if this'll be continued. I'll see what you people think. I don't own Loki, Will, Halt, or anyone else. Comments and criticism are appreciated.

"Halt?" Will called. Something felt wrong.

"Kitchen, Will," Halt yelled, rolling his eyes. His visitor smirked, green eyes laughing.

"Halt, has Pauline been acting weird lately?" he asked. "Alyss has been acting funny. I think they're plotting something." Will still hadn't seen Loki, who was sitting in the chair Will usually sat in. So following habit, Will sat down in the chair. But he immediately jumped back up, drawing both knives as spun around. "What?!" he cried, voice cracking embarrassingly. Face red, he sputtered, "I'm so… Oh my go… Why didn't… Halt!"

"Don't get mad at me," Halt said, holding up his hands. "I'm not the one who sat down without looking."

"But you could have told me someone was here!" Will protested.

"I thought you saw him." Halt shrugged. It seemed so simple.

"Well, I was distracted!" Will said.

"Poor excuse," Halt chided. "What if Loki wanted to kill you?"

"I don't think he does." Will looked sideways at Loki. "You're not going to kill me, are you?"

"No," Loki said.

Will sat on the table. "That's good. But back to my original question. What's with Pauline and Alyss? I swear they're both up to no good. And that has me very, very worried."

"Don't worry too much," Halt said. "You'll kill yourself doing that. But they have been acting stranger than normal."

"And on to the second topic." Will pointed to Loki. "Introduce the new chair."

"This is Loki," Halt said. "He's… not from around here. We're going to need more coffee. He's just as bad as we are."

Will studied the newcomer. He couldn't see much other than his face and hands. Loki was pale, but he didn't seem sallow. His face was thin, with high cheekbones. Cold green eyes studied Will in return. Black hair hung neatly to his shoulders, kicking out in peculiar waves. Thin lips were pressed together in a vaguely thoughtful expression.

"Never seen 'im before," Will said at last.

"It took you that long to realize that?" Loki asked. Like Halt, his voice was deep and soft-spoken. But he had a neat, cultured accent, the likes of which Will had never heard before. Loki nodded to Halt. "It was a pleasure speaking with you," he said, "but I should go." He stood up. Will realized he was nearly as tall as Horace, maybe slightly taller.

"'Night," Halt said, returning the nod. Will watched in quiet amusement as Loki had to duck to avoid hitting his head on the doorframe.
